Black Hawk Down!

I finally saw this movie for the first time. All I can say is WOW - it was really awesome. The whole seen where they were in the hold up and were trying to clamp the soldiers main artery in his leg was gruesome - Very realistic. Great movie - I will definitely be adding it to my DVD collection.

:thumbsup :thumbsup

WTF? That scene was extremely sad..

Let me guess.. The first 20 mins of "Saving Private Ryan" was gruesome, cool, hot and full of action?

The more explosions the better...

:ticking

of course it was sad - but how else other than gruesome would you describe - cutting a wound to make it larger in order for a person to reach up inside it- and feel around for an artery. Maybe if you knew the meaning of the word

grue·some ( P ) Pronunciation Key (groo sm)
adj. Causing horror and repugnance; frightful and shocking:

Great movie! :thumbsup

Far-L 10-21-2004 10:33 AM

Good movie, but the reality was far more gruesome..

Most of the people killed were not armed somali militants but unarmed women and children that were acting as human shields.

The hollywood version would not look so heroic if that was what was depicted.

You're a moron. I was there, and nobody I raised my rifle to was an unarmed woman or child.

The parts they didnt show in the movie, was us trying to clear the roadblocks, UNDER FIRE, while trying to get to the rangers to get them out. How the fuck do unarmed people shoot at you? Have you ever even been in any branch of military, or do you just watch alot of tv?

Very sad and very brutal movie. some of the scenes were downright disturbing. The fact that all of it actually took place is what makes it really heartbreaking.

Ridley scott did an excellent job and I think brought honor to those who died and those who fought along side them with that film.

Hey Far-L

were you there.......do you really feel you are qualified to discuss the heroics of an Operation Restore hope Vet....

Much respect for you and Spike but to be perfectly candid.....unless you were on the ground I do not feel you are in any position to discuss the merit of service exhibited during Operation Restore hope.....

I felt pretty fucking heroic making sure I was putting rounds down range when I was being fired upon by muslim extremeists using the war torn region as a haven for terrorists.

When we drove out the Mohammad Farah Ahdid's war lords from Baidoha, and Bardera, leaving the people to eat again and have peace with stacks of dead bodies leaving a scar that would be present for the rest of their lives........

yeah I felt heroic........

You have no idea the horror that was taking place in Somalia December 1992-October 1993

Basic_man 10-21-2004 12:11 PM

Yeah, that's a great movie! Saw it in theater.. that was great !
