KRL hit it right on ...
Anyways, Bush and friends are collectively making a fortune ...
But say for argument sake, they weren't, what does Bush, Kerry, etc care anyways ... they all have so damn much money that even $260.00 / gal wouldn't matter; for Bush it could be $260,000.00 / gal and it wouldn't matter since his transportation is paid by the govt - I doubt Bush even knows what a gallon of gas costs anyways.
So the "common" folks are the ones getting shafted ... getting back to the media ... they've collectively chosen to downplay the price of gas - somehow they collectively feel that it's not a story until gas exceeds about $2.93 / gal (the inflation adjusted highest price of gas in 1981).
Look at how the mainstream TV media still will not mention the name of Kobe's accuser even though the charges were dismissed and she is filing a civil suit against him - thank goodness for the internet ... I personally get most of my news from newspapers (not much better than TV per se, but provide more detail) and of course the internet; nice being able to read news from various sources throughout the world, but I digress.
Yeah, gas is way high, but folks seem to be mesmorized by the war on terror ... Bush, Kerry, and many other politicians are playing it for all it's worth ... what do they care about the price of gas ... Bush's travels for free, Kerry could buy an oil company (or maybe Bush's timber company LOL!), and Nader ... well, I'd imagine he travels around on public transportation and drives a Prius hybrid or similar that uses little to no gas.
