Curves fro Women anyone own one???
 

I am looking at buying a couple. I have an old employee who would run them and I would put up the cash. Anyone else know about them?

Just looking to move some cash off line.

My aunt helps run one in her off time, and her friend bought a couple, she is doing really well.

Also I see them popping up everywhere!

My wife is friends with a woman who owns one here locally. The place does really well. and has quite a few members, seems like a good investment.

I have politcal differences with the owner of the chain, so I don't invest or go there. But the one on our tiny island is always full of soccer moms. Go figure.

cool so far everyone says they do ok. Political differences normally don't bother me but I will find out how out there the guy is.

Same with the one here. It draws a more upper class mom crowd it seems.

But they are popping up everywhere. I heard they were one of the fastest growing chains in the country right now. I guess cause the initial cost is not that much.

yeah, they are all over here. Belonged for a while but the rules of Curves not being allowed open on Sunday cause it is a christian organazation and you are supose to close for 2 hours during lunch. The one near me was never open past 7:30 made me eventually quit. I know someone who owns 3. She says that owning one was not profitable enough for her.

I don't like their Christian agenda, but if that doesn't bother you, seems like it could be a cash cow.

My ex-husband is in this business (Gold's, not Curves) and someone approached him about opening one a few years ago. Before Gold's he had looked at World, Powerhouse, and a few others. He hired the same people to do the market analysis for Curves and they said the population, income, etc. would easily be enough to support it. He ended up passing on it because of some of their crazy rules/requirements, plus there's already a women's only room in the Gold's.

Another lady who owned an aerobics studio eventually opened one about 2 years ago in the same place he was looking at. She's about to close it down now because it's not making any money. I think most of the women like the Gold's better. But... I'm sure that in the right area (esp. heavily populated) that it could do well. Look at how many other gyms are within a few miles and see which ones have women only accommodations.
