the standalone SP2 pack weighs in at over 270MB actually. Lots of bugfixes, it may or may not lead to serious bluescreening and program incompatibilities though.

depends on your system config.

it's worked wonderfully for me. can't complain. the new popup blocker is pretty potent, too.

slapass 10-20-2004 05:14 AM

I like it a lot. it has tons more security.

Groove 10-20-2004 05:18 AM

It's worth the upgrade, but...

Make sure you are thoroughly backed-up first.

And make sure there is no spyware on your HD.

Otherwise you might have a very unpleasant experience.

plyndrty 10-20-2004 05:18 AM

Agreed, worked well for me, no problems...

Go for it:glugglug

FuckFind 10-20-2004 05:21 AM

just make sure to backup your ENTIRE set of valuable files for just-in-case failures... probably a good time to do it anyway. SP2 has its advantages, just make sure you have a plan if it fucks up... has happened to many.

FF

ive had huge problems with sp2 .. dont do it until they fix ALL the bugs!

Basic_man 10-20-2004 08:18 AM

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Don't install it !

Project-Shadow 10-20-2004 09:47 AM

Don't install it whatever you do, i've had to fix multiple people's computer because they decided to upgrade [80% of the people didnt even know they had upgraded in the first place]

BSODs, to burnt HD's... all because of a fucking upgrade.
Cheers M$.

The "auto" firewall is gay.
:2 cents:

Goatse 10-21-2004 10:53 AM

I heard it screws up illegal software, which would suck for me since I have every single cracked piece of software ever made... :1orglaugh

I installed when it first came out, everything worked fine except internet connection speed was slow as hell. No one had a clue so I uninstalled it.
2 weeks ago, I found out that I had to uninstall IE6 and reinstall it after SP2 was installed.
So I did :sadcrying :sadcrying
I restart PC and get bleuscreen of hell...
Somehow when I deleted IE6, I also deleted vital .exe and .dll files.
I had to buy a new PC, put in the old hard drive in the new PC, take ownership of all files that were locked and copy them in new hard drive. Then put back hard drive in old PC, reformat and re-install everything :(
Now it works like a charm, but had I known what was ahead of me, I would not have installed it.

Gynecologist 10-21-2004 11:02 AM

no problems here, had it on for several weeks

jimmyf 10-21-2004 12:23 PM

i had no problem with IE, but I don't use it that often, when I do it works fine.
