DISGUSTING PICS: Out of the hospital....

Hi Peeps!

Well, for those who didn't hear...I had a bad fricken fall. Not pretty. Slick steps and people in a hurry will do ya some damage if you don't watch out.

So I broke my tibia in 3 places and had major surgery.
Was in for 7 days. Pain was so bad, that Moraphine wouldn't work. They had to give me dilaudid (synthetic heroin).

So I was really jacked up for awhile.

Pic of the leg: Click Here
Video of the staples being removed: Rough Video
So in a wheelchair for 2 more months before I can put weight on it. Fricken steel plate, cabling, screws, synthetic bone graph.
Sux.

However, HUGE PROPS to my wife, the beautiful and charming Brandy for making it through this with me. She's been an angel, saint...All the above!

Also, bigass props go out to Webcamcash! Barry and Hazel of http://www.webcamcash.com got on a plane and flew in from Toronto to S. Florida to be bedside with me during part of this very trying time.

Brandy and I consider ourselves fortunate to have friends like Barry and Hazel. Thanks so much guys for being there when it was needed most!

So taking it easy and getting back SLOWLY into the groove! Glad to be back!

Doesnt look that bad really. Be glad you didnt break your tibea plateu like I did. Thats the medical term for a broken knee. Then you'd have 4 months of no weight on it, some screws, a plate, bone graft, weeks of physical therapy, and permanant loss of range of motion in it.

But yeah I do know the pain..... good thing is, it eventually stops hurting.

Unless you are in a brace or cast so that your knee is immobilized, there is no need for being in a wheelchair the whole 2 months. Trust me, you will be ready to get out of that wheelchair and onto crutches as soon as possible.

I'm glad you're doing ok hun, thank you for not posting the pics here.

:thumbsup

Thanks guys...kind words indeed.

Yeah range of motion is still very tough. I'm not doing the immobilizer anymore. Kinda combo of a walker and wheelchair at this point. Still sooo fricken weak from the whole damn experience.

But yeah, was just below the knee...I have pics of the Xray somewhere. I'm down for 3 months no weight, so sux...and just HATE having to ask everyone for help all the time.

That's I think the worst feeling about this all, the feeling like you're kinda helpless. The last few days have been a little rough getting down off the percosets and Valium.

The Valium still helps the spasms, but dayum the percosets had me like a woman with PMS.

Was the most fucked up thing coming down off that shit.

Today was my first day going all day with no meds at all. Kinda proud of myself because man can it was not the best ride. I've had better! :1orglaugh
Glad to be feeling more myself in my head again. That was rough. Great to be getting back into the groove.

Damn dude .... dont that reserve that kind of pain killer for last stage cancer patients?

What the fuck did you do to have to have that level of drug in your system?

When my boyfriend's appendix burst a couple of years ago, it was the same for him. Morphine did NOTHING!! The dilaudid kicked in really quick. He ended up in the hospital 5 weeks, most of that in ICU, 9 days in an induced coma (because he was septic, and had a breathing tube).

Stupid fast accident, the ones ya never see coming. Just a bad fall wrong. So yeah, the pain was so severe, they had to use that kind of painkiller.
They gave me a little botton to push every 6 mins for a dose of Moraphine. Didn't work.

So then they switched me to the dilaudid. Kicked in too. Everyone has different tolernances, so mine required me to fly away on a nasty drug ride I hope to never see again.

Rob: Thanks so much...you guys rock!

IronHorse: I never had a first hand look, thank G-D. LOL

Andre: This bitch can party, what can I say! LOL

I remember when I fucked up my knee a couple of years ago, I was hobbling around on crutches for about 2-3 months. Afterwards I was a silly idiot who decided that physical therapy was a waste of time, dont know why, guess I was just being an idiot, I mean I could see that my leg had atrophied just by comparing its size to my left leg.

I'm sure you got more sense than me so you'll be doing your physical therapy, hope you have a speedy recovery man.

xclusive 10-19-2004 11:03 PM

Look at the bright side you have an excuse for sitting on your ass and doing nothing now...

ProfitPrograms 10-19-2004 11:06 PM

man - looks super painful - my best wishes for a speedy recovery :thumbsup

Ouch! I had a nasty fall this weekend that could have been really bad. It was too fast on wet surfaces too, but luckily I was spared anything worse than a REALLY sore body.

I did 4 months of PT earlier this year for a back injury and I've set myself way back with my fall, but I'm back doing my exercises and stretches and trying to get things back in control again.

Do your exercises and listen to your physical therapist and don't work too hard. Better to rest now and walk well later, than work a little now and not walk later, right? :)

If you ever need to have metal plates attached to your bones, you will be able to answer the question yourself :2 cents:
