Props to Belkin

Ok, I wake up yesterday to the most nightmare of a day I have had in months. It had stormed all night and was lightning so bad that I didn't even let my kids go to school yesterday, it was THAT bad. I go to shut all the computers in the house down and got to the second and this huge crash of lightning seems to hit right where I was sitting, sending me involuntarily to the middle of the room, (no it didn't hit me, but when I get scared, I run, whether I WANT to or not) so I land in the middle of the room and just stand there.

I said fuck it and went back to bed. When I woke up I found that my cable modem is shot, no problem, I just went to Mediacom and got a new one. BUT I found my router had been hit too, so I call Belkin and they helped me, for 2 hours we sat there on the phone and tried everything we could, made no sense because I could access other computers but not the net, but if I plugged straight into my modem, I had the net. HOURS later, they decide they are going to give it to someone else with more experience. MIND you, this router is out of warranty at this time.

As a temp solution because I HAVE to work and I refuse to use dialup, I ran and picked up a cheap ass wireless D-Link..... BOY was that ever a mistake. According to them, it will plug right into my current wireless adapters. Well it didn't and I call them....... they inform me that they can't/won't support anything but THEIR products, even though this fucking router WAS theirs. OK.....

So I call Belkin back and ask them if they can help me make this work. THAT guy spent 2 MORE hours with me on the phone trying to help me get this to work, (I should mention that the wireless adapters are Belkin as well, but the router was D-Link, but was assurfed they would work as long as they were the same frequency). Well, it never ever did work.

FINALLY, I take that back and grab a Linksys, which works beautifully and hooked right up within minutes, but I also picked up one of their adapters so we could at LEAST get back to work and fast.

15 hours and many many many phone calls later, I have GOT to give props to Belkin, they are not only going to replace this part, free of charge, BUT they also stayed right there by me til we had exhausted all means to get this working to a solution that got me back online. They never got nasty, never gave up (in fact I had to give up and cut THEM loose) and they never ever lost patience, if they didn't know what was going on, they would go and try and find out.

You just do NOT get support like this these days and Belkin was top notch, very pleasant and very much stand behind their products. I just had to give them props, they took an already horrifying day and made it at least NOT more intense, but less. So if you don't use Belkin Products, YOU SHOULD!!!
:thumbsup
