browser hi-jacking?

I have a friend whos computer is completely screwed. Whenever he launches IE and attempts to go to a webpage he is redirected to some type of search engine, non-adult related. I ran spy-bot and adware and they cleaned the system but i still can't get the browser to go the destination page.

Cookies and temp files cleared. Any suggestions?

download "hijack this" and scan. then delete any entries that you think are from spyware

i have the same problem, only reason i dont run and use hijack this is because i was told you may accidentally delete/remove files that can cause lots of other problems on your computer

i'm waiting til somebody who knows what they're doing can run the program

good luck man

what search page is coming up? do a search for it and how to remove it. last time i got a hijack it was hiding in the registry and shit

Download "Hi Jack This" from Download.com then highlight and copy the link that is taking over your friends broswer then take it over to google browser paste with the word hi jack after it. There might be a list of others that have had the same problem and have the list of codes for you to delete once you run HiJack software.

Good luck :winkwink:

If you know anything about your computer, you should be fine. It's pretty straight forward.

And for the love of god, after you get the computer cleaned STOP using IE. Firefox will not only stop all that crap, but it's a MUCH better browser!

I haven't had a toolbar etc. installed in years. I tried Firefox, nice browser if it wasn't slower than a constipated senior citizen.
