PC(win) or Mac?

Wondering what % of the webmaster market Apple holds (they have 2% of the world PC market currently).

Let us know what you use/prefer.

Tricksy 10-18-2004 02:48 PM

I'm using PC, don't really like Mac. Although my friends tell that they really like it especially design...

Rich 10-18-2004 02:50 PM

Once you go Mac you'll never go back. :glugglug

Dirty F 10-18-2004 02:51 PM

Mac users are stupid hippies who only use a mac to be different while every day they are bitching because software wont run on their "alternative" pc.

Macs are cool if youre doing graphics stuff all day, every day. Other then that its a waste of money,

dunefield 10-18-2004 02:51 PM

I just checked and I don't think that's an issue any more - you can get a mouse for Mac with as many buttons as on PC (from Logitech as well as MS :)

just for the record, photoshop actually runs slower on a mac then it does on a PC.

I use a mac, did the switch about 1 year ago, no exploits, no viri, no browser hijacks, no regrets.

Manowar 10-18-2004 03:19 PM

mac :glugglug

The Machine 10-18-2004 03:22 PM

Looks like quite a lot of people here like Mac. Just read that their overall market share is expected to rise due to a substantial increase of iPod sales causing more people to look into buying a Mac. Maybe it's a good time to buy some Apple stocks :)

Actually, I'm gonna buy a 12" iBook soon, because it has a great battery life (6 hours) and at 2.2 kg it's one of the lightest laptops around. Pretty good reasons imo :2 cents:

lol, what do you base that on? Show me any PC that runs photoshop better than my G5 with dual 2 gig processors and 8 gigs of ram.

AdultNex 10-18-2004 04:27 PM

Macs are designed for people that either go for a computer with aesthetic properties, or don't know how to manage a computer without getting viruses, spyware, etc.

Other than that, it's a great piece of computer useful for graphic/video editing.

Probono 10-18-2004 04:33 PM

The answer is simple

What software do you need to run. If it runs on a Mac and you are willing to spend the extra money buy a MAC. OS X is built of free BSD and is rock solid. You will not have the virus issues of a PC and the current crop of G5 processors are very good.

I was the consultant to dozens of school districts, city and county governments and many companies. I have taught data networking on the college level and always recommended PC's until Apple introduced OSX.

Now I use a MAC and recommend you evaluate one.

Fraggy 10-18-2004 04:47 PM

Or could be that PC people don't give a fuck and MAC users are always gung-ho about this shit :2 cents:

Aivengo 10-18-2004 06:41 PM

MAC :thumbsup

Vitasoy 10-19-2004 03:44 AM

I will always be a pc user, mainly cause everything is compatible with it.

SMG 10-19-2004 03:46 AM

eh fuck both win and mac :-P linux rox ... I use linux for almost everything, and have a win2k for a few specific things.

xclusive 10-19-2004 05:54 AM

I've always used a PC for my business and most people use photoshop and dreamweaver and they are are same on both Operating systems...

Kemist 10-19-2004 05:57 AM

I use a PC running XP at work and Use a Mac running OSX at home, have so many problems with the work computer it makes me want to tear my hair out! I go home and get a responsive machine that does what it is told, I think itas crashed roughly 8 times in 3 years of use. I wont argue with that!!! Only thing I can say that is negative about Apple is there prices!
