Is it possible to do a reverse whois?
 

I have people who desperately want to know how I make money and they said they got me all figured out.

I am puzzled because it would be impossible to know unless they seen my websites witch I never showed them.

Can they find out witch sites I own with just my name and address?

I dont think you can, but it would be helpful. I have so many domains registered in my name i know that i probably forgot about a few.

I can do it for a $10 fee per NAME lookup.

Requires:

1) a sample domain(s)
2) the name used in whois as "owner contact"
OR
name used as "admin" contact

unles they have access to registrars dbs its not possible

back in late 90's it was possible to search NetSol whois by name and see what domains that name has registered, this service was discontinued a while ago.

Do you have any idea how much space each zone file is? Try recording all changes across all domain names. Not an easy task.

what about zone files? they have only domain names, ip's and NS info in them.

Plus I only own a few domains so my file would be small.

whois.sc does it on a nice number of domains like millions of em now

You don't download one file, you download the entire file, published twice a day. This doesn't include whois info, just domain name, status etc.

You have to then retrieve the whois info of each name.

No reverse lookup by owner.

and ATT doesnt offer a service where you can search by name what cell phone a guy uses

and nextel doesnt offer a service where you can search by name or cell number a guys nextel ID

but PI's get it all day long

hmm.. well these guys are complete noobs.

Perhaps you divulged some other details, like what hosting company you use (sometimes that's enough), or mentioned a site where you advertise, or a google placement you have, or they saw a domain-related referral code on a checkstub, or something like that? There are other ways to reverse engineer a person's business model than through whois. If they weren't noobs, they could also do a lot if they had access to your network.

Is it possible that they're just saying they have you all figured out, but really don't? Like have they actually told you what they know? Maybe they're just messing with you.
