mp3 gurus? i need some help...plz :)

when i was re-installing my system i had all my mp3's backed up.
but i did that through DOS and it cut all the filenames,
now they are all screwed up names like 8 characters long only.
Is there a way i can rename all the mp3's to the title names of them. i cant do this one by one, as i have 500 of them.

any suggested would be appreciated http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/smile.gif

I don't know if that is possible, but if it is, you'll probably find the software that will do it on this page:
http://download.cnet.com/downloads/1,10150,0-10001-103-0-1-7,00.html?tag=srch&qt=mp3+filename&cn=Audio&ca=100 01

Or perhaps this specific piece of software:

Could use a batch to rename them all but I don't think your can get the titles back, atleast not this way.
If you still have the disk they where on and didn't put data on that disk yet you can recover the files.

There should be some utilities out there to take the ID3(?) tag out of the MP3 and re-name the file to that.

Of course, not all MP3's have these values set.. for those you would be SoL..

Did you look at this link I posted?

This does what the other guy said regarding the ID3 tag. If you had those tags entered then that program will do what you want.

It works for 30 days and then you have to buy it. But you will probably only have to use it once.

If the ID3 is set right in your mp3s, then you can use a software like this to rename all your files at ones.

And yes I´m THE mp3 guru http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/smile.gif
