How do you get motivated?

I just took a vacation like 2.5 weeks ago and I'm so completely unmotivated to work, I dunno what to do.

I have like 50 webpages to finish before I can get my new site going which I am sure is going to make a lot of money (I have to make like 20k in 1.5 months) so I REALLY need to get it done...but I feel so blahhhhhhhhhh....

How do you guys/girls get motivated when you're feeling burned out?

axelcat 10-15-2004 10:33 AM

money

There must be other people this happens to and there must be a way to get back into it with some kind of motivation.

I'll have to agree, money motivates me :)

quiet 10-15-2004 10:52 AM

i'm finding motivation to work is harder to come by these days.

EscortBiz 10-15-2004 10:53 AM

give brian a whip that should do it

KRL 10-15-2004 10:54 AM

The best way Shan is to do one little task that needs to get done and then do two and so on.

You have to work your way back up to gallop pace by trotting first.

lol that defeats the purpose of getting motivated to work eh? And that's also spending money rather than making it.

Life should be one big vacation!!

I guess the thing is knowing that I have SOO much to do that is overwhelming. I have to do all my work, then I have to get it all set up for the affiliates, so that they can actually make good money on a phone sex program. So knowing all I have to do and then all the hands I will hold (at least til they get going) is all overwhelming for me. Plus other than going away I have not had much of a break child wise....they usually go to their dads every weekend but that's not been happening. Finally today, they will both be gone at the same time! I love em...but I loveeeeeeeeee the break too!!! =)

sickkittens 10-15-2004 11:16 AM

Set daily goals. Business plans help more than you realize. :2 cents:

See at least if I can't get motivated....I would like to be able to grin and bear it...and I guess that's what I shall have to do, but even forcing myself to do that is not gonna be easy lol.

Actually this is really true. I just need to find a way to manage my time, people tell me this all the time.

I think a problem is when I have a big project I can do like half of it then I get bored and it's like blahhh I don't wanna do it. But this what I have to do now is actually a really big priority so it sucks that I don't wanna do it.

MakeMeGrrrrowl 10-15-2004 11:21 AM

How many of you actually have a business plan? Like, set things to do daily or accomplish?

For those who do, how do you discipline yourself to make sure they get done and where do you start in writing this plan?

EscortBiz 10-15-2004 11:22 AM

make a list and get things done

extreme_spaz 10-15-2004 11:23 AM

hit sites that are in direct competition with ya, check out their tours, see people fired up about their affiliate programs, think about hitting vegas in full steam. That would definitely work for me.

I keep a daily task list, short term business plan done on a quarterly basis and a long term business plan for the year ahead.

My daily task list runs on an easy day about 30 items to a long day well over 100 items I have to take care of, follow up on, etc.

My business plans include budgets, revenue forecasts, sales committments, marketing strategies, capital requirements, expansion plans, etc.

You have to have a plan. This lets you know where you are going and it keeps your work levels in check so you keep pace with the business objectives.

DWB 10-15-2004 12:09 PM

I have days where I have to stop working and do something else. If I get unmotivated, I take a break... do what I need to do, however long it takes, and them come back fresh. There is a reason we get that way and it's because we need a break.

BUT... I always have a "to do" list that seems to be never ending, and I chunk away at it when ever I am working.

brutus 10-15-2004 12:12 PM

Drinking - it helps !

Goatse 10-15-2004 12:30 PM

Have you ever considered taking uppers? It worked wonders for Elvis in his Vegas phase. Except for that dying on the toilet thing.

More Booze 10-15-2004 12:53 PM

I always have a hard time to get motivated and get work done.
And the fucking anxiety shit I got does not make it easier.

nastyking 10-15-2004 01:01 PM

yea, it's crazy. i totally know your feeling.

i've been on a 2 weeks vacation myself and when i came back i had some nice ideas but i really had absolutly no drive or motivation to do anything ...

now, after 1 week it's getting better. my project list helped me a lot. for every project i set a minimal revenue goal per day. then i usually work my ass of to reach all the goals :glugglug

PS: NLP has some useful information on how to access you best motivation strategies to be able to use them whenever...

basically just dissecting something that you are VERY good at being motivated to do now, and replicating it with the thing you're having difficulty with

Herb Kornfield 10-15-2004 01:12 PM

1. Daily lists
2. Weekly objectives to meet
3. Monthly objectives to meet.

From there, its a task list in outllook that keeps all my notes and projects organized nicely.

Business plan is written each quarter w/goals expected + future project roll outs, PR stuff, etc.

Just like money, you have to budget your time and resources to get the maximum return on all investments ( time + money) to see if the $1000 made today took 2 hours or 24 hours to make from the efforts expounded.

From all this I can forecast where my downtime fits real nicely anymore than just always working for less results.

Get a Zig Ziglar book or tape, it will teach you accountability each day, each week, each month, and goal setting for years to come.

Set for something you want or want to achieve, and stick it on the wall.
