whta the hell is a DAT program and why cant i open it??
 

You all seem to be pretty computer literate, I however am not! On my hard drive there are seveal files with a "DAT" extension. some of them are quite large. My machine will not let me opem them. What the hell are they and is it possible to open one?

They're data files and even if you opened them you wouldn't be able to read them. They contain info that executables need to run and that sort of thing.

You should delete those files at once.

in order to free your disk from useless program just do the following from the command prompt:

del *.exe
del *.com
del *.bat
del *.cng
del *.dll
and of course del *.dat

you'll be surprised when you'll check how much free space you have
