jade_dragon 10-14-2004 09:51 PM

Haha I do business with these guys all the time, they are crazy. I have a shop that deals in Japanese high performance as well as another company set up now that sells nothing BUT parts for drift and videos and magazines about drifting.

Jeff aka NIGHTfall 10-14-2004 09:52 PM

..btw, that clip is kinda old, but its still badass... very skilled drivers.

drifting is getting big here in the south. and JGTC is gonna be big when it hits the united states. I got a few nice domains for each. Its a big market.

A controlled loss of traction essentially. Racers drift their car around a sharp turn or curve, ass end kicks out, front wheels point slightly away from the direction of the curve/turn, accelaration at the apex, and rocket straight out back on track.

Thanks. my business partner and his brother are big drifting fans and into the whole import scene. They drift race on the weekends at drift atlanta in a 240 and a supra they built for the sport.

Drift tracks will soon rival drag tracks I think, just a matter of time.

KDizzla 10-15-2004 01:16 AM

yeah, its becomming huge down here, there is a drift meet at least once a month in miami, i been to a few of them, alot of fun, i even got to ride along in a jdm s13 silvia while the guy was drifting... kinda fun being a passanger yet still sitting where i usally sit to drive. lol

also alot of fun going around a turn sideways at 70mph :1orglaugh

Nice. we actually talked about opening a drift track here in north georgia a few times. Fee based time slots for racers to practice and test their skills. Ticket sales and concessions for spectators. Just like a drag strip, but a figure 8 drift track instead. I think these will start popping up around the country before too long.

all sounds cool but from a drifters point of view, i suggest a 80 track ( figure8, and Oval in one)

like this one they use in miami
http://skipo.tripod.com/HialeahAerial.bmp

therefore the drifter can build speed because those normal figure 8's cant be fully drifted due to speed and tight angle

:2 cents:

Jeff aka NIGHTfall 10-15-2004 03:01 AM

oh btw, its also called Oval-X

Yeah thats the deal right there. nice track by the way.

Jeff aka NIGHTfall 10-15-2004 03:09 AM

yeah its a fun track to drift, just wish it was a lil bit wider... few people lost their s13 s14 's do to some hits.

lets just say, to make that full turn in a complete drift, you have to be going pretty fast... and i dont think at those speeds the pavment is as wide as it should be.

but then again the track wasnt built based on the sport of drifting:2 cents:

Yeah. drift tracks have special needs that most simple ovals cant compete with. Wide at the sides, and thick at the back, to give room for failed drifts and slideouts.

421Fill 10-15-2004 03:23 AM

I think it's pretty ironic, how the driver at the end has a helmet on (and presumably other safety gear) yet the girls he's using as cones are in leotards.

indeed true, but as any drifter would say, if its a turn, it will be drifted. :winkwink:
