If you have servers in multiple datacenters, I could recommend some software - if not, there's lots of companies on the web that will do it for you.

www.betterbeup.com being one

you mean they'd better hope or its pretty simple; webmasters will pull the plug on them and go somewhere else

Not doubting anyone would pull there sites from there servers, to each his own. Just letting anyone here that doesnt know them know that the problems over the past couple weeks are the only problems I have ever had in over a year with them. I cant justify moving to a new host because of 1 problem (yes I believe the past few weeks are the same problem) in over a year. Thats just my 10 cents...;-)

Holly 10-14-2004 09:12 PM

fwiw, the last time this happened they said it wasn't some random problem. It was supposedly from some kind of "malicious" activity, but they couldn't say what.

They've down at least 5 times in the last year and a half. And for extended periods of time too - not just a minute here and there. No other big host has even come close to being down for as much time as Phatservers. Anyone using them obviously has never experienced what it is like being with a real host; otherwise they would have moved their sites long ago.

We have been with moose and company for years and can not complain at all. They had their main router go a few weeks ago, and that may still be part of tonights issue. We have been trying to reach them via phone and will continue to do so. Will keep you all informed.

They are still one of the best choices for dedicated servers out there.
