I am sure most people would have a problem open an offline business.

It's easier to be self employted here than in the "real world". :2 cents:

I worked in an office for one month a few years ago. That was enought to tell me I was not cut out for it. I would get in at 7 and leabe at 7 my normal hours here and everyone else thoguht I was nuts. I was. I did not get paid to do that.

Not sure I'd agree. It's as tough to truly succeed in both. People just perceive the 'real world' as being tougher when the reality is often a lot different.

Working for yourself no matter what field is the best.

My next job will be "Baech Warden" have not sorted out the beach you but looking at Thailand closely.

Additional tasks will involve me being fed fresh pineapple by a dark eyed dusky maiden and drinking copious amounts of beer.

I will leave Eva here to keep you grunts supplied with pictures and her putting enough money into our account daily. For me to not have to rely on the miniscule wages my future employment pays.

mindoza 10-14-2004 05:50 AM

I'd prolly be able to go back to a boring factory job if I had to but I don't think I could ever bring myself to do it again..

But here's a thought after say 4 or 5 years in this scene you decide to get a real job.. who would you use a references?

Hey Lightspeed! put in a good word for me that I can sell your sites like no one else :1orglaugh

I used to be an auto tech at Ford and I got ASE certified, so yeah I could probably get a decent job..

Sana Chan 10-14-2004 07:51 AM

If all goes well with school then yes. I'd rather not work for Wally world for the rest of my life so hopefully I'll get a job in marketing.

that's cool for someone in college to be doing this biz but what I'm saying for someone like me.. I'm 34 next month and really only held one real job for 11 years. If I were to do this for 5 years and didn't have a computer related job to fall back on what would you say you did for a living for 5 years :1orglaugh

I don't have any plans of leaving this scene till I'm ready to retire or this takes me into a more mainstream internet job.

johnbosh 10-14-2004 08:02 AM

For me, I'm 30 and where I live, it's small and there's not many job opportunites, so I'd probably end up going back into retail. Before I went into this full time, I worked at Wal-Mart for 6 years as department manager over electronics which was a fun job, but the pay wasn't nowhere near where it was doing this, so I left.

I thought about going to college, but I don't know if my brain could handle it, ha ha ha.

I figure it this way. If I can do this for another 3-5 years and things keep going like they are, I'll have a nice new $300K house built and paid for, plus a couple hundred grand earning me interest/profits for retirement.

If I can be 33-35 and in that shape, I won't need a big high paying job. I can take it easy.

HOPEFULLY this does keep going for more than 3-5 years though, this is the life :)
