Bush is FINISHED!
Barring an incredible "October Suprise" or a big screw up on Kerry's part, Bush will follow in his father's foot steps as a one term president.
I say this based not only on tonight's debate, in which Bush acted & talked like Gomer Pyle for most of the debate with little substance which allowed Kerry to be a runaway winner, coupled with the latest poll numbers out today in the battle ground states. In Oregon, Kerry has opened up a 6 point lead. In Ohio, Kerry now has a 4 point lead (he had been DOWN by 5 points 1 week ago). In Pennsylvania, Kerry has a 7 point lead. In Iowa, it's dead even at 47% each. In Wisconsin Kerry has opened up a 3 point lead. In Minnesota Kerry has opened up a 2 point lead. And in Florida, it is NOW a tie at 48% each (Bush had been leading by 4 points 1 week ago). So as you can see, Kerry has gained in EACH of these battleground states (Haven't looked up Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona yet). And maybe most importantly: "A tracking poll by the Zogby International group showed Kerry, the four-term senator from Massachusetts, with a three-point edge at 47-44 percent heading into the final stretch of an acrimonious, marathon campaign." Zogby has been the most accurate poll in national elections since the year 2000. And latest overall approval rating of Bush stands at just 44%. His LOWEST EVER since he became President. No president has ever been re-elected with a favorability standing of less than 50%. YES!! :thumbsup |
Iowa will vote Kerry. It's a democratic state.

I hope you're right, my little Rainman friend!

i'll have to watch the rest of the debate

All the polls I have seen show Bush with a 3-5 point lead in FLA, a slim lead in Ohio, and a slim deficit in Pennsylvania. You've been smoking way too much crack. |

In fact, since 9/30/04 Bush has only IMPROVED or STAYED the same in ONE battleground state. In the other 9, Kerry has either gained ground or taken the lead. And that's of tonite, 10/13/04. |

Hmm....interesting...Fox News doesn't have any "instant poll" #'s on the debate. Wonder why? :)
Can't believe that they DID post this though: "Kerry accurately quoted Bush as saying he does not think much about Osama bin Laden and is not all that concerned about him. The president protested: "I just don't think I ever said I'm not worried about Osama bin Laden. It's kind of one of those exaggerations." |

It was interesting this evening during the NBC nightly news that they said they are expecting a 75% voter turnout! WOW! Usually we're lucky to get 50%..and historically, large voter turnout has favored the demos. |
Fox had Kerry barely winninghowever the pol was a pain in the ass to find.....lol
It is anyones guess who will win I just want to be able to travel overseas without being embarassed when people make US comments. Look and the strength in the Euro and and CDN our economy sucks. |
if Kerry wins this election it would mean the 2000 election was fair , if Kerry loses Bush stole his second presidential election

At least I won't have to listen to mindless Bush bashing, it'll switch to mindless Kerry bashing.

They had a 50% of getting it right in 2000.. Just as they have a 50% chance of getting it right in 2004. Regards, Lee |

I don't know how to break it to you, but a 1 point lead or a 10 point lead doesn't give someone more electoral votes unless it is in one of the few states that is not a winner take all situation.
Oregon's 7 votes isn't likely to make or break anyone's campaign |

It's not just some "politics" that are at stake in the US. It is just insanity if the US people allowed Bush to become President for another four years.
If this happens, they will be left a legacy which would be hard to downplay for decades and a financial cost unheard of. Another current thread on GFY is about currency exchange rates with Canada being low - ya ain't see nothing yet! No point in "Bush bashing" - it's all been said. The guy should never have been even a candidate in 2000 for the Presidency - he is simply not qualified and provides evidence of this, almost on a daily basis. No leader of any country in the western world is so inadquately equipped to lead as the current US President. The one "claim of achievement" that *seems* to stand with many folks, is that Bush was a "good Commander-In-Chief" on his "war on terrorism". I can't even consider giving him any credit for this, - simply because he failed to address it, tho the Admin may claim differently. Despite claims otherwise, there are more terrorists with plans for the US than ever existed before Bush's "war". bin Laden, although symbolic, is free. The myth propogated about "homeland security" is that, a myth. Iraq? The price for that has not been paid yet - and the bill will be high in many ways and last decades. I suspect we are going to see a *real* shock and awe. This was a disasterous Presidential term for the US - time and the legacy will show how disasterous. Whether the US people like it or not, the world is watching and waiting to see if there is a wiser judgement in selecting a President. (Forget Kerry, tho he happens to be the other choice - it's not about politics). If it appears another bout of Bush is on the way, - other nations will act appropriately as they have been doing for some time now. None of this is good for anyone, including the US. Let's call it the "not helpful and uncooperative" syndrome. Get out and vote for *anyone* with some honour and integrity else the odds are, the outlook is going to be kinda bleak! :-) Good luck folks! Choose wisely... it matters, especially now. :thumbsup |
