They are closing schools left and right here... 2 more schools closed just this year... last year about 3 closed... 2 new large schools have been built on the sites of those 2 old schools to house all the kids that lost schools to goto... Bush's wife should slap his ass silly for taking her idea and trashing it to shit..

I actually have a friend of the family who runs a tutoring program through the no child left behind act. For years she taught kids in Juvenile detention camps with her own money. You would be astounded with the illiteracy rate in juvy. The kids she tutors in juvy usually don't return to juvy. She trys to help them into trade school and to find jobs too.
Through the No Child Left Behind Act she has been able to get enough money to keep doing that and she runs a tutoring program for kids in LAUSD who are having difficulty in school. She teaches them everything phonics based, which seems to really help the kids learn.
