Ear infections suck! How do I get rid of them

without having to go to a doctor?

It's a 60 minute drive each way and a waste of time, usually..

eroswebmaster 10-13-2004 08:41 PM

I used to get severe infections when I was a kid..would lay me up for days.

Culminated in about 25-35% hearing loss in both ears.

I had tubes put in my ears to help some of the scar tissue on my ear drums and that helped. I haven't had earaches in forever...however I still have a good deal of hearing loss in each ear and it has gotten worse.

A lot of people I deal with don't know but I have a difficult time hearing...people usually will come to realize it when they notice that they are talking to me from behind and I'm not responding in anyway shape or form...LOL

Don't fuck around when you have ear infections..you lose your equalibriam.Your doc has to give you antibiotics or flush out your ears cause they are full of wax

xclusive 10-13-2004 08:42 PM

Just take the eardrops from the pharmacy and you'll be fine..,.

As already mentioned don't fuck around. Take that trip to the docs. Loss of hearing to spread of the infection to the brain are just some of the risks.

Had the same problem, have a couple pairs of tubes (first ones worked theirself out or something). Luckily I only ended up with some minor hearing loss.

Urine...must be your own...

MissEve 10-13-2004 08:46 PM

If its already infected you need antibiotics to clear it up usually. If your ears just feel clogged take some over the counter stuff like Sudafed etc that will thin everything out and let it drain from your sinuses.

fusionx 10-13-2004 08:47 PM

I've always had problems with wax building up, so I've been doing the cleaning with peroxide drops for years.

There's been no wax for about a week - just a really light, slow drainage, and it itches and burns like crazy..

I think I'm starting to get a fever now, too.

I hate going to the doc.. I go to the VA - takes all day to get an aspirin :)

I'll have insurance in about three weeks, but I don't think I can wait that long. I enjoy hearing things!

That's some bad shit, dude. I'm hoping there are some other ways to fix this crap. But, the pharmacy has nothing over-the-counter except for the cleaning drops..

I better bite the bullet and take the time off from work, etc..

Go to the doctors immediately! you need to get antibiotics to clear up the infection...
My son gets them all the time and they get progressively worse untill you treat it!

It's the only thing my grandmother would use. Seriously. We are from the country in the south...nothing I could do about it. Apparently it works like a charm though.

Probably caused by stress.. immune system gets depressed etc.. I thought an ant or something crawled in my right ear and died.. then my left started up a few days later.

reynold 10-13-2004 09:06 PM

take antibiotics (that you are not allergic to). then, clean your ear often with clean cotton buds.

:1orglaugh First damn post I read tonight.

If it's an inner ear infection, there's nothing you can do but get an antibiotic or wait it out. The infection is behind the ear drum, so anything you pour down in it is not gonna matter because your ear drum covers the opening between your ear canal and inner ear. Even if it's in the outer ear, you're still gonna need an antibiotic. It could also be caused by a fungus. I wouldn't pour anything in it while you've got an active infection going on.

Ana Laura 10-13-2004 09:25 PM

Drop a few alcohol (purest you can find) 90 or more deg. on the ear and let it in.

I surf a lot and get bad ear infections often. Pure ethylic alcohol has never failed! :thumbsup

Pornweaver 10-13-2004 09:27 PM

Tilt your head and pour a capfull of isopropal alcohol into your ear and let it "ooze" into your inner ear and soak for a moment, then tilt your head the other way and let it come out on it's own. Stay away from Qtips. Do this a few times a day and it will help it to start healing.
