Too Hardcore For Howard Stern
www.GUBA.com
PRESS RELEASE October 13, 2004 TOO HARDCORE FOR HOWARD STERN In a surprisingly prude move Howard Stern?s handlers rejected advertising money from GUBA.com today for being too sexually explicit to advertise with the ?shock jock?. A source inside Stern?s organization reports that the nature of the ad is not in question. It is the sexual content of the website that was deemed unacceptable. GUBA.com is a search engine which allows visitors to preview over two million adult images and videos before downloading them. The content and concept are not too different from Images.Google.com (GOOG). There is a fee to use the site but once paid all content is free and can be downloaded and enjoyed over and over. Despite the fact that GUBA?s service would be very appealing to Howard Stern?s audience, Infinity Broadcasting, a division of Viacom (VIA), the company that owns the Howard Stern program refused to even discuss the possibility of creating an ad that would meet all FCC regulations. ?We love Howard and thought he would be a fan of our service. We have a tremendous amount of content and don?t have pop-ups or other annoyances. Howard loves porn, we have porn to meet almost every desire; it seemed like a perfect match.? said Phil Lawton, spokesman for GUBA.com. He added, ?It seems like we have been singled out for exclusion. Other porn sites have been mentioned on air and several have advertised. From what I understand, a call-girl service even bought advertising in one Howard Stern market. Prostitutes can advertise but porn is off limits.? Executives at Infinity Broadcasting have offered no additional explanation for the decision. GUBA?s marketing dollars will be allocated towards other media. Radio is only part of a significant media campaign just getting underway. ANNOUNCEMENT: GUBA is growing and investing in our revshare program. Get on board now and profit from our ad campaign! http://img.guba.com/images/g_banner_88x31_ani.gif www.GUBA.com |

Well, you're dealing with Infinity broadcasting which are scared as shit of the FCC right now and they make the calls, not Howard.
As for the call girl ads in one market. That's totally different as it's thru the local station. It sounds like you were trying to get ads on the main show, maybe even from Howard himself like he does for TrimSpa. That's a totally different animal. In fifteen months he'll be on satelite radio and maybe you can cut a deal there. :winkwink: |
so let me set this straight:
you get paid from surfers for providing them with an easy access to the usenet, where there's thousands of unlicensed pictures and contents... right? Hows does your 2257 look like? |
2257? It's just a service that reads newsgroups. There are a few things out there that do this. I mean people can use programs to read newsgroups, GUBA just seems like an easier solution. They're not paying for access to download GUBAs pics, they're paying for access to acccess and view newsgroups.

It is because your service isnt interesting or even that great.

Why promote this thing?
I have to pay Only $14.95 per month????????? Why would webmasters want to join somthing they have to pay for? |
I'm actually suprised Lensman allows them to advertise here considering some of the illegal groups they archive... but then again he allows sexpedo to stay so that could have already answered my question...
