Ive known of webmasters just to take their laptops and live hotel to hotel for a while.

I either take my laptop or have someone that works for me do it.

My bf won't leave anywhere without cable internet access. He has the laptop at his hip if we aren't at home. He still manages to vacation and put some work in at the same time. We're getting ready to go on a cruise and well, there is no cable in the rooms so he'll be in the internet cafe working.

I went for vacation to Ireland two months ago. I stayed there for ten days and I didn't take my laptop, just took absolutely days off and was only relaxing.......:thumbsup

this has been the bane of running an online business for the past 9 years. i have never been able to travel without access to high speed internet. so that has always meant expensive, hotels, especially in the early days. more and more places are wired now so it's not nearly as expensive or hard to deal with anymore. still, i can't wait for the day i leave my laptop at home with no worries about high speed access. i have a feeling this day is rapidly approaching :Graucho

C'mon, if you work on a computer (like we do)... there's no excuse why you shouldn't be able to take a working vacation =D

Most people dont really need a workless vacation they just need a change of scenery and a few new things to do.

Where would you rather build the next galleries for your the week at your home office or in hawaii?

skyechase 10-13-2004 10:22 AM

I think working vacations are okay. I mean, you don't end up putting in the hours that you normally do anyway at home unless a serious issue comes up. You can work and have fun too.

Work Hard - Play Hard

Christ. I went to Virginia Beach in June I think. Took my laptop and had to dialup in this cheap ass ocean front hotel to check up on everything. Ended up just leaving and leaving it all connected, came back drunk that night and it was still connected.

Never got a bill for it. :Graucho

Almost every where in the world you go, you can get to a net cafe. Get a laptop, and get all the updates that you need ready, and then go. Hit a cafe do the updates, and then go back to the beach or whatever.
