I always feel weird when the subject comes up in class at school... Sometimes, when hearing people talk negativaly about it, I wonder how they would change towards me if they knew I ran a website.

Has anybody here come clean to a group of people at once? A group of friends? Family?

You should say you don't see anything wrong with responsible adults enjoying adult entertainment.

People like to say porn causes problems. Alcohol causes problems too but only with people who are irresponsible and abuse it.

Ask all these people in your class if they have a few drinks every once and a while and see what they say about the social problems drinking causes.

Kard63 10-12-2004 10:44 PM

I have to say that I have never been anywhere that people were talking about porn being a social problem . . . I almost wish it would happen sometime.

The worst thing that happened for me was at my son's school.

During a parent teacher get together, the principal started talking about protecting children from pornography on the Net and distorted it to make sound like this industry wants kids to see it.

It was really fucked up the way he was doing his own spin on it and he also encouraged all the parents to contact their congressmen to complain about all the porn on the Net.

I so felt like standing up and speaking my mind, but obviously it would have created a total scene.

I was completely uncomfortable and squirming in my seat during his entire speech.

that is exactly the type of situation I am talking about...

A situation where you can't /shouldn't say anything but on one hand you want to.

Hard to know what to do.

SpikeHeel 10-12-2004 11:05 PM

I'm open minded person but not to the extreme. i' m make sure that no one will be offended or even abused. i respect other 's opinion when it comes to porn.:thumbsup

Wait a second? Porn is bad?

We've had this discussion a million times. Porn is entertainment, no different than watching a movie at home. It's acceptable for kids to watch hundreds of people get killed and play some of these video games, but porn is bad?

Give me a break.

$pikes 10-12-2004 11:14 PM

I ask them how that fucking gin martini they are drinking is.

I remember being i a similar situation, but the principal was talking about this new television show . . . The Simpsons.

I couldn't believe that 1) he thought the show was for children; and 2) he was taking it so serious (and he really was).

jade_dragon 10-13-2004 12:46 AM

There is no situation in which I would feel that I could not speak out about it. Pornography is nothing more than what goes on in people's bedrooms put out there for other people to watch if they opt to. If you to not like it you really do not have to watch it. I would have nailed your son's principal on the spot. What kind of scene would it have caused? Every woman in the audience has had sex and so had every man, more than half of them enjoy porn regularly and almost all of them have watched it even if it was softcore shit in a hollywood movie.

Anyone on a soap box is fair game for me and I enjoy calling them on what they are preaching about, especially if it is something that I know from first hand experience. What are the other parent's going to do, stone you to death, are they going to black list you? I never do anything I am ashamed of, I have tact and do not go telling everyone everything I do good or "bad" but it amazes me how so many people worry about being "found out".

So far anytime I have talked about the industry people automatically think I am a star and so far no one has done anything other than giggle, blush or look at me like I was some god. After I explain I am not content they still think it is cool.

In KRL's case, I think he had to consider the consequences for his son.
