Hi, what do the pros round here like Wired Guy etc. suggest for good Search Engine Optimisation reading material?

In the past searchenginewatch was a good one. Is it still good?

Whats some useful ones to study these days guys?

FWIW - I have known an old guy who has been working the search engines for years and does quite nicely from it.

His advice has always been that the truth about SEO is out there but you won't find it on search engine boards.

And Google.

Seriously, not many people use Google to simply look at the top SERPs. Look why someone is number one for a keyword you want to target, look at their backlinks, titles, anchor text, etc. etc... Replicate, beat them out.

Thats if you know what to lookk for.But a newbie lnows nothing about anchor text ot titles or even site structure.
I must say though I have never really checked out what the opposition is doing.I am too busy concocting my own schemes.
