Affiliate programs getting ripped off by this method?
Simple example:
Affiliate program pays $25 on console free, $35 with consoles. Affiliates web site detects if the surfer has a popup blocker. If yes, he sends to console link codes to get $35, if no, he sends to console free, so no surfer sees a single popup, and still he gets high commission on a lot of the signups. |
Something forward thinking programs should have considered maybe? :winkwink:

Interesting.

bastards hehe, guess we could build in a thing that shows ratio of popups shown and if it falls under a certain % then we will know whats up! Good idea, very nice thinking

That's why after a while you receive an email:
"Your account has been desactived due to low conversions". And then you come here and start crying on GFY that the sponsor sucks ballz. |
they should really fix that but it is an interesting exploit that you have found...
|
there was a good thread about this a while ago... see if I can find it :glugglug
|
that's the idea of lensman! :warning
|
Sponsors can counter it and monitor your incoming traffic using the same approach.

Lol... You just read Lensmans thread, didn't you?
Genious.... :1orglaugh |
People coulda been doing that forever. Just check if javascript is disabled and tours always woulda been essentially console free.
On your ad page 1 set a cookie. Page two check for cookie. If no cookie, java is likely off. Ancient "is javascript enabled?" test method. I send to console free anyway. Tired of swimming upstream against the overwhelming public opinion. |
console free is the only way to go anyway, maybe a smaller payout, but at least they might come back to your site if they don't buy.
