And yes, I would expect that someone like Christopher Reeve would certainly be knowledgable about what stem cell research can and cannot do considering the position he was in and the amount of time he spent campaigning on the subject. Bush administration has limited spending on this, not limited research. In fact, there are no limits on the research to this day, there ARE limits on how many they use up for research. Also, there has no been no proof, not even remotely, that would claim that stem cell technology could improve a chronic malfunction, like spinal cord injury of the late Christopher Reeve. In fact, he even stated that publicly, but he also wants spending to increase so more information can be gained on this issue as quickly as possible. The democrats will pick up any issue if they think it will help them win, and Senator Edwards claiming Bush is the reason Christopher Reeve couldn't walk, or didn't make it.....Well , if you have half a brain you will laugh that off, coming from a trial lawyer you should take everything he says with a grain of salt.

Second of all, even scientists do not know the capabilities of stem cells (which are by definition, undifferentiated cells), so how in the hell a superman actor, without having any knowledge about microbiology, molecular biology, developmental biology and so on would know about stem cells.

Reeve would have died regardless of what Bush did or did not do. As I said in my earlier post, these things can't cure injuries like Reeve's right now. He knew, they know it, apparently you don't.

Btw, you're preaching to the choir for a change on this one. I support Kerry's position on stem cell research. However, to say if Kerry is elected all paralyzed people will walk again is pure propaganda as is blaming the lack of a cure today on Bush.

Pre-Med is NOT a degree dumbass, it is just a set of classes you have to take (Organic Chem, Inorganic Chem, Physics, Bio courses ect..), which are required for admission to U.S. medical schools. I was also Pre-Med and got into a medical school but decided not to go. Cell Biology, which you claim you studied, is a Degree.

Back to our topic, as CamChicks has posed, they are numerous of studies where stem cell transplants help to repair spinal cord injuries in rats and mice, so this is a FACT. Maybe the time has not yet come to apply this to humans, because of our dumb headed Bush, which he calls himself the president, but in near time future, if this research gains momentum, the cure will be possible. So instead of saying "stem cells can not cure my injury", Reeves should have said, Bush's stupid policies, which hold back the cure.

If you are a Cell Bio major, you should know of the major journals and websites, go to New England Journal of Medicine, Medline ect.. you will find enormous info on stems cells and how they do miracles in animals.

As I've told CamChicks and his ilk multiple times, it is their extremist position on everything that most invalidates and renders irrelevant the very point they are trying to advance. I'm not expecting them to smarten up anytime soon though. :helpme

As far as the stem cell issue, I just said to CamChicks that 1) I support Kerry's opinion on it 2) no, it could not have helped Reeve walk or saved his life regardless of what Bush did (the research is at least a decade away from that) and 3) no, just because you think something is the case, does not make it fact.
