What state does the Simpson's take place in?

Has it been revealed and I'm not aware of it?

I haven't heard anything definite.

What state do YOU think Springfield is in and why?

I think it's Massachusetts. The episode where Homer goes for a walk after he gets the hoof from Moe's Tavern and walks into Cheers is my reasoning on that one.

If that's not it, I figure it's gotta be somewhere closeby.
