My thoughts: Maddox goes off on saying that Christoper Reeve was Arrogant and Selfish. Hmmmm, helping people by putting the public spotlight on a medical condition that literally cripples thousands of Americans a year is Selfish? Sure, Reeve was helping himself by helping others, but who the fuck is Maddox trying to kid here.... what is he looking for a selfless Mother Theresa type? (He'd probably charge that she was somehow an 'asshole' as well)

As for arrogance, face it buddy, humans are trapped in the condition of I. Everything is viewed from the prism of I. I want. I do. I need. etc etc. What separates heroes from self-centered jackass wannabe moral purists like maddox is that REAL heroes transcend themselves--offer themselves to others outside of them.

Bottomline: When YOU die (and its a 100% probability it will happen) how will YOU be judged? How much YOU helped yourself? How much YOU made for yourself?

NO... you'll be judged by how much you helped others, how much you gave of yourself, how much you sacrificed of yourself... in essence, your contribution to humanity.

My husband met him once long before the Superman movie..

and yes he was an asshole

maybe having that tradgedy happen to him changed his point of view on things
