Internet vs. Real world
 

Why do people refer to life outside internet as 'real life' or 'real world' ?

I don't think Internet is advanced enough to be considered an alternate reality yet.

internet is one of the technological breakthrough we have today...it gives the inforamtion that people need....:)

because things are taken less seriously online than in real life. like if someone threatens to whoop your ass on GFY more than likely they would be a complete pussy in real life. and the things they say to others here, they would never have the balls to say face to face.

Identities and personalities online are completely skewed from reality in that people can create and put forth whatever image they choose, so in that sense yes it is an alternate form of reality for many.

Waht is this "real world" you speak of? Please inform me and I will teach the others.
