One summer during high school I worked at a meat packing plant and I gotta admit it was disgusting. If most people saw what really goes into hot dogs they would never NEVER eat another one in their lives.

Yeah that video clip is very sad. Im assuming all of the people making stupid comments havent watched it in its entirity or at all. Im glad to hear the video moved you. I dont preach to people I meet or anything but I think everyone should know what really goes on in the chicken, pig and cow farms. Its very disturbing.

I did and now I don't. I haven't eaten a hotdog or sausage in probably over 10 years! I still get sick knowing I ate one before. :(

They used to cut off diseased areas of animals and then cart it off in buckets to "the wiener deck." I am not making this shit up. I actually saw it happen on a daily basis.

Yeah, I still eat everything esle as well. I did try to go veg a few times but only lasted a few days before I drove to Carl's Jr and got a burger.

The last time I lasted almost 2 weeks but got so weak I could not climb the stairs to my office so I ordered a pizza with everything on it. Instant energy.

Did you choose to go vegan because of your compassion for animals? Thats the only reason I do, plus its healthy. Yeah its very hard to stick to it but I have a picture of a cow licking its calfs face clean (it obviously loves its young). Im a big sucker for big eye balls. Cows half such expressional eyes. I use to visit my relatives in Prince Edward Island in Canada and they had wild cows who just ate grass all day. I use to spend all my time with them, patting them, naming them and talking to them. They are really like massive dogs.

I think if each of us had to kill our own food before we ate it not many of us would eat meat or if we all had to take a tour through a slaughter house and see animals skinned "alive". Yes many of them are still fully conscious when they are skinned. Its just all really sad. I believe someday they will find a way to kill these animals quickly and give their short lives more comfort. Please dont tell me these animals die quickly because they dont. Imagine standing in a line watching everyone in front of you strung up by their ankles and their necks hacked open and then sent down a line as they wiggle around trying to get free.

Dildozer 10-11-2004 07:49 PM

That shit's fucked up for sure, however it's typical of the PETA to show the worst.

I've seen egg farms and dairy farms where animals were treated much better than this.

It's up to the industry to tighten up regulations to stop the worst ones. But fact of the matter is, when you eat meat there has to be a victim, most people just don't realize and appreciate it.

Thank god most of the meat i eat I kill it.

yeah, blame it on the consumers, like we are the ones torturing the animals.

i'm not ok with them being tortured, but i am ok with them being killed for food.

Ok thats fine. But animals cant speak Lane, its upto humans to help them. Im doing my part. I hear what your saying though.

KRL 10-11-2004 09:31 PM

Unfortunately, we live in a very, very cruel world where animals suffer because of man.

All we can do is create public awareness and stop as much of the cruelty as possible.

The core problem is the majority of human beings have little if any respect for the value of an animals life.

:(

At this point in my life, I rarely eat anything other than meat. I'd rather have a steak and a chicken breast than some fucking piece of fruit with vegetables.

I have killed my own food plenty of times and will continue to do so at every opportunity. Im not gonna be a smart ass about how God put them here for us to eat or anything like that but to some degree it is the truth. 200-300 years ago do you think you ever saw someone running around the villages crying about the poor animals? No, not saying there were no vegetarians back then but there were no stores to run to and get your special foods so people ate what they could. If you wanna eat rabbit food have at it, its your choice, but seriously, stop whinning to everyone else about the poor animals.

PS
I will say that the way these animals are treated is shitty, when I refer to people killing there own food I mean people who actually go out and sit in the woods and wait and kill there food quick and not torture them.

I couldnīt find a relationship between them and terrorism. Maybe I understand terrorism in another way as you do, but after watching the videoclip I really canīt see a reason for treating animals in such a way.

I got the impression that those "farmers" - donīt really know how to call them right - try to call peta activists terrorists for obvious reasons, because there is a lot of money in it.

Anyway, even if you eat meat - most people do, I think, there is no satisfaction for that behaviour Iīve just seen.

Rich 10-12-2004 02:11 PM

When did God tell you that he put fish here for you to eat but not animals? I missed that memo.

This topic isnt about that. Its how pig, cow, chicken farms TORTURE the animals before and during their deaths. I guess you didnt see the clip I post in the begining of this thread.
