A couple of years ago I had a contest on the D$ Show for webmasters who can rap.

I found YT Cracker, he won a competition to rap at the Players Ball and kicked ass.

Here's a video of the free style jam we had. Everything in this video happened spontaneously.

I feel you on that one. I remember a bunch of times these chicks jump on stage and try to flirt or rub up on me. All I can think is, my lady is watching, my lady is watching.... Then I grab my pimp stick and point it the other way, then I follow the magic stick.

I was nervous my first time on that stage in 1999 when Ice-T pulled me up to do the Big Woody Awards. That wasn't planned, I was all fucked up too. After that, I get too busy with making sure the event is on schedule and sponsors are happy (I try). So I can honestly say I don't have time during the evening to get shy and think about stuff like being nervous. I get out there and handle my playa business and talk shit into the mic.

I'm going to keep pulling videos out of my archives since my new live show format enables me to play clips on the fly while broadcasting live.

VH-1 cameras following me on the way to the Players Ball, I asked for my lady's arm and started to walk. The way I did it last time was I had people email me with their tracks, a demo. Then I picked the ones I felt sounded the best and let them rap on my live show.

After hearing others feedback, I chose YT Cracker as the winner and offered for him to rap live during the Players Ball. Then when I went live with YT Cracker, other people from the crowd wanted to get on stage, so we listened to them off on the side of the stage and these cats could rap. So when the time came, we let them up there with YT Cracker.

To answer your question, I'll probably handle it the same way and have fun with it. Email me info about yourself with URL and demo. When I have a live show, i can play a clip or soundbite and have people choose the finalists. When the moment is right at the Ball, we'll call out our pre-screened rappers and have a little exhibition, not really contest. It's more about show casing then about competition.


Now the DJ Battle sounds interesting. I'll think about it, but not sure if we have the time for it unless it's at the very end when people are leaving, which sucks for the DJ's.

My recommendation is this, I'll have a Players Ball ticket pick up on the 5th, all day long at a location to be named later. We plan on having DJ's and drinks, that would be a great time to do it. I'm hoping to have a bunch of people in this room, like a party in the day. DJ Battle Showcase?

a lot of those rhymes spit between everyone was not freestyle... obviously memorized. Then theres some obvious freestyle goin on - but a shitload was written.

Im entertaining the thought of hookin up a demo just for shits n giggles sake. But what would really make the battle really interesting is getting subjects to rap about from the audience... Otherwise its pretty much a written rap battle.

I had Tony Hawk on stage with me, I introduced him and actually heard a pin drop.

I guess webmasters are busy networking and the stage/performers are just in the background.

Once the main artists begin, people get into it and go nuts, everything else is like networking time I guess.
