why isn't canadian thanksgiving on the same day as the real thing?

I can hardly wait for Thanksgiving here. I get to do the cooking, (yes, I love to cook holiday meals), and everyone else gets to do the cleaning.

That and I get to watch the Macy's parade....except that i don't have any way to see it this year. :(
