Sanford Wallace spyware!
ROCHESTER ? The lawyer who headed a lawsuit that ended Sanford Wallace?s reign as the world?s "Spam King" six years ago said he cannot believe Wallace now faces several spyware charges in U.S. District Court.
The Federal Trade Commission filed a complaint this week against Wallace ? most recently the owner of Rochester?s Plum Crazy nightclub ? and his companies, Barrington-based Seismic Entertainment Productions, Inc., and Smartbot.net in Pennsylvania. The commission contends Wallace?s software infiltrated Web browsers of personal computer users, flooded them with pop-up ads, then sold anti-spyware programs for $30 to those same users to get rid of the pop-up ads. http://www.fosters.com/October_2004/...s/su_1010f.asp |
