Skin removal is becoming a bigger and popular form of body art lately. I've looked at it on quite a few sites and there is a lot of people getting it done.

People had the same reaction to tattooing once, and then piercing, and now scarification. Big deal. I don't see how this is worse than a girl cutting open her chest and sticking waterballoons underneath.
