When I did designs, 50+% of the orders came from GFY though.

I used to be somewhat addicted, but then I realized that's because I wasn't working hard enough. Now I'm doing a lot better, making much more money ever since I've pulled myself away.

forums are just a break from work, 30 minutes max a day if that these days, as works picking up alot.

i bet people with services like designers, content producers could make healthy living here though.

Seriously being on the boards, not just GFY, established us quicker than anything else. Being a "Character" helps because as we all do so little face to face business knowing someone by only their board character is better than nothing.

We tried advertising and it does not work for us, we're on all the resource listing we can find, but it's amazing how much comes from me sitting here day in and day out posting.

Let's face it given the alternatives I have what would you do?

GFY is like watching the news. Its a tradegy, drama and a comedy plus all kinds of crazy shit rolled into one and occasionally something actually helpful to my needs.

I depend on GFY for amusement purposes only inbetween other shit durning the working day for a quick break filler or on the weekends when im just out crusing after the wife is asleep.

I don't know how many rely on it for their livelihood, but I would say the majority of the people here rely on it for the best and fastest place to communicate industry happenings and to do industry networking on an instantaneous basis.

GFY has the ear of everyone who is anyone so in that sense it is extremely important to all of us.

I depend very much on GFY, I can drink double as much beer now that I get money from my signature :Graucho

Over the past couple of years, I have gained at least a hundred new clients who have bought content at my store from posts on GFY. I have also begun joint ventures and found lots of services (designers, programmers...) through GFY. It's made a significant impact to my bottomline.

No... GFY is a handy resource and sometimes a good way to contact people.. otherwise it's entertainment and informative (SOMETIMES) all at the same time.

I don't rely on the board to make business, but I must say that Lensman and his team have built a great site where I can get lots of info/news on the biz, learn new stuff, entertain myself and make great contacts.

I've gotten more signups and contacts off other boards. GFY is the more the "find out the gossip, see what deals are going on, get more views for info/question posts, entertainment" board. :thumbsup

Agreed - It is a shame tho, so many use the site for useless drama and wasts so many clicks.
