So, this will be a real simple contest done in anticipation of our new design shop.
We have six prizes available in this thread that will be given away.

Rules:
1. I am the final judge on who wins.
2. All winners agree that I may use the designs in our portfolio.
3. Winners must provide any and all content to be used.
4. Prizes may not be sold or transfered.
5. You may enter no more than 6 times.
6. All entries must contain either an email or icq number to be valid.
7. Entries end at midnight 10-15-04, Winners will be announced 10-16-04.



How to win:
List five things you either dislike about designers, or things you would like to see available in a design shop.
Then tell me what prize you would like and why you think you should get it.
Remember to include an email address or icq number.

Half page ad.
TGP or MGP gallery template.
Text or Thumb TGP or MGP design (1 page).

1. A lot of times you can tell what designer did the website you are looking at. This is because a lot of them tend to use the same layout for every website they do. No originality.

2. Some of them take forever to complete the work they were hired to do. More times then not, they go over their delivery time.

3. A lot of them are flakey and never finish what they start (some not all) WHen I first started in this biz, I hired a desiger to build my website. He was paid every penny he asked for, but half way through he vanished. Did the same thing to my mom. She hired this guy to do her catering website over a year ago. He never got around to it so I had to do it.

4. I think a 24/7 live chat should be available on the company's website. Sometimes things happen and your client may need you asap. They'll need a way to reach you and this would be simple for them.

5. A lot of designers are cocky. It's great to be proud of your work, but its not necessary to act like your shit doesnt stink. Everyone had to learn somehow and just because other designers may not have the same knowledge yet, its no reason to flame them. Simple suggestions would suffice.

Id like a HPA if I win. I think I should get it because I was honest with my answers, and I could use variety. I design everything myself and I have my own style. I like to offer a variety for my members as well as my affiliates. With a HPA done by you, it would be a completely different style, and my affiliates would have even more of a selection of promo items to use.

1. Designers, when working on a project for you, should be availible for contact at all time. In case you had a change of thought, or want something different.

2. Untill you are 100% satisfied with the design, the designer will keep changing it over and over. Not complete design changes, but smaller things.

3. Honesty. If you know that you cant complete something in time, becuase you have other work to do or the project is too big. Be honest. Say that you just dont have time to take on a large project right now, or if you do take it one, be realistic with when it would be done.

4. Be realistic on price. If a banner will take you 10 minutes to finish. Dont charge $25-$35 on it. Just cause we could never make a decent banner in 10 min, doesnt mean we should pay $35 to have you do it.

5. Talent. If you are just starting out, dont say that you are building your portfolio. Create serveral designs before.
Banners, FPA, HPA, TGPs, Galleries, and put them in your portfolio and sell them as pre-made deisngs. So taht we can see your talent.

These are easy prizes to win, and severals are litterally just gimmies.
The whole point to this is to solicite and compensate for providing some feedback on your wants, needs, and desires in a design firm. I am glad to recieve what I have so far, yet desire to get much more so please participate.
