Od that'd be cool, some small thing for referrals but I think Lens wants more serious car ideas.

Along what lines tho? Maybe its my age showing but a stripped down dunebuggy as a prize is an awful lot! What more could there be?

Make more of a tour page for the surfer to considerthe program..
Give them more of a scare and more of a pitch with technical aspects of the program. Let them know that it will not only protect them but will tune up or make their computer lag less and move faster. (i know you already do but do it more, people need to be told things over and over)
Tell them internet junk is responsible for the slow downs, the crashes, the lags all the crap that the pc keeps on file and registry get cluttered up and need to be cleaned and prevented from occuring.

And that only internet eraser can do it in a 100% safe manner that makes pc performance optimal as it was when you first took the pc out of the box.

Maybe another contest for us smaller webmasters/reward for loyalty - get only 4 sign ups a month for september, october, and november and get entered to win something smaller. Only one entry per webmaster.

Just my 2 cents. Not sure if it had to be a CAR idea.

As for the actual car contest its fine!
The set up is really straight forward, and not unreasonable. You are afterall giving away a car, it should require work from the webmaster to achieve, not just handed out.

Only way you guys can help is get the sales pitch stronger..
We'll send you the traffic, you convert it.

Dont waste your time on making the contest better when you can use the time making the program stronger.

Sales Sales Sales should be on all our minds, not how can we make it easier to get you to hand over the car. Sales is the bottom line.

On Bones note... adding a registry tuner that allows the surfer to see whats in there in more readable terms wouldn't hurt. As well as letting them delete the BS, but if they try to delete a needed window or app reg then it'd pop a no no window.

I agree with the below by Boneprone... I dont think there is enough program information/scare tactics on the pages.

Anyone else?

1:100 to 1:200 unique is evidence of a great tour.

You can say too much and talk yourself out of a sale. But we are continuing to beef up the tour, especially the ability to drill down to details.

But I'm really asking about the CONTEST.

3 Suggestions -

1)
I feel there's something very wrong with the 1st entry 20 sales, 2nd entry 25 sales etc. It should be the other way round, the more you sell the easier it becomes to get more entries so that we are encouraged to promote the program any more.

So in my opinion it would be 1st entry 20 sales, 2nd entry 18 sales, 3rd entry 16 sales etc. till you reach an entry every 10 sales (if anyone would ever reach that!)

If nothing else then at least keep it an entry every 20 sales, that would make it at least fair for people selling more copies.


2)
There should be more smaller prizes, so the winner gets a car, the next 5 or 10 winners get at least something worthwhile (not a DVD Player!!)


3) Definitely keep a bonus prize for the maximum, 2nd max and 3rd max number sellers (or the people with most entries, 2nd most entries etc.) so they dont feel absolutely tragic after selling a lot of copies with a lot of entries and not winning anything.

And yeah, more cars! How much do these cars cost?

You definetly want to encourage sales with the contest but you also want to encourage webmasters to join your program. Since you are giving away more than 1 car how about keeping the 20 sales for part of the contest but incorporating in a seperate contest where you could also win one by joining up for the program itself as long as you are sending hits to it and advertising it. AP clickthru got huge with many small webmasters as well as many large ones because of sheer numbers. Tons of small guys that may not be able to generate enough sales for the contest in sheer numbers will do nothing but help promote the program as it gets increasingly more exposure.

Every 2 sales gets you 1 ticket in the draw. Or every sale would be better but alot more confusing.

I got something like 10 sales now, would love to win a car. Better be a BMW or Corvette Lens :-p

Well, 20 sales isn't all that tough to do, BUT.... this is definitely no level playing field, that's for sure. I can maybe MAYBE do 20 sales in a month, but there are guy's here I'm sure that will do 20 in a week (or less). While they are on their 3rd or 4th chance at winning the car, I'm still working on my first, and lowering the amounts of subsequent entries only compounds this problem for the hundreds of smaller guys.

I sort of think the way you have things set right now is fair, because if the big boys want a second entry in the car draw they too have to work a little harder for it, leaving us smaller guys a chance to actually get one entry in.

Lens, can you give us an idea of how many of the fist 200 entries are left still? Just so we know what we're up against.

I think the way you have it set up is very innovative, linking things to the stock market and weather, things out of your control. Brilliant!

Probably too late for this idea, but... Instead of giving away each car, have the contest with the same criteria as before (weather, stock close), and 20 winning webmasters get registered into the final drawing where you give away $200,000!! So then instead of 200 webmasters with a chance of winning one car, you would have a 1:200 shot at $200,000. I have a couple of nice cars but would LOVE a shot at the BIG money. I would probably change every banner on every site for that opportunity.

I still say make it one entry every 20 sales, if not lesser. Else it would be more profitable for people to sign up for new accounts every 20 sales.

I agree . I think a good way to increase the sale (if the programing is possiable) is to make the program a free trial download and track it for when they register it so that the webmaster can get the sale http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/smile.gif

And its 10 cars till November, which means there should be a minimum of 200*20*10=40,000 copies for 10 cars to be given away, in 3.5 months. With 200 webmasters promoting it, each should sell 300 copies in 3.5 months!!!
