So 2 weeks down with my "new" diet...
Two weeks ago I gave up my daily dosage of soda. Last week while at Shaun of the Dead I had a Coke and the other night I had a Coke. Nothing more. Last night I even ordered in and was somehow able to refuse soda.
Anyway, my jeans are fitting better and my stomach has been feeling much better overall. This is pretty cool. I do miss my Mountain Dew, but I'm sure I can do without for health's sake. :) |
3 weeks ago I stopped drinking cokes everyday. Now I have 1 or 2 per week. First couple of days was hard, but now i feel alot better and am not craving caffiene all the time.
|
the past couple of weekends, been consuming 4-6 bottles of beer.
damn, i need to trim down my alcohol intake before i lose my abs :( |

hes addicted to Mt. Dew and hes becoming a fat ass. :( |
I used to drink soda daily too. At one point it was at least 2-3 cans per day. I don't drink soda at all now and haven't for the past 3 months. I feel healthier overall.
|
congrats Sly...
I just started one last week myself, down 9lbs already.... it's the 'lindora' diet (aka Lean for Life)... nice cuz of the mix it allows for, 4 weeks one style, 2 weeks another, 1 protein only day... |
I gave up coke a few months ago. But I have had a few lately just so I can stay awake. The heat here makes me extremely lathargic.
|
I switched to diet soda many years back. As most diet drinkers will tell you, you acquire the taste and begin to despise regular soda.

The thing is once you lose your abs or get a bit of a stomach it is VERY difficult to get rid of. What happens is you can work out the muscles beneath the stomach fat, but it's hard to burn the layer of fat that covers the muscles on your stomach, without intense workout specifically for the stomach region and running/jogging or running up and down stairs. I was shocked when I hadn't looked in a full body mirror for about 2 years, and got my ass back into the gym almost daily again after a 3 year hiatus. |
Coke and all other soft drinks are terrible for you in general.
I think i remeber once hearing that a single can of coke has about 1000 calories. I remember when I was youner I had seen a nutrionist and was told that a healthy diet intake is about 1500-2200 calories a day. Thats about 75% of a suggested normal calorie intake per day. Talk about ridiculous, Abosultely nothing gained from it nutrion wise. In the end they are just Empty calories basically. |
WTG, keep it up :thumbsup

soda was easy to drop, I just drink teas or some other zero sugar/carb bubly soda-like stuff....
but I know if I didn't have those other drinks I'd be jonesin from time to time |
I haven't had a soda in 33 days...
Before that I used to drink ~2liters of cola daily :) And damn the first 2 weeks are hard... I feel with the ones that try to quit smoking. |
It's not just that it's bad for you and puts on pounds. It wouldn't be as much of an issue if it wasn't for this particular job where you spend 10+ hours sometimes sitting in front of a monitor getting no excercise at all except walking the 30 seconds to and from your car.
I find that a short but intense daily workout actually evens things out by giving my body what it would have under normal daily physical activity if I wasn't sitting down 10 hours. |
if you have to have sodas drink diet sodas
diet mountain dew tastes JUST like regular mountain dew 0 calories 0 sugar only thing in there is a LITTLE sodium, nothing to worry about |
i gotta do something, i quit smoking and gained fuckin 30 lbs. and i was all ready a big guy. fuck, quit soda eh? i like soda.

No matter how good it tastes, I'm staying away from it. I will NEVER abuse my body the way I did before (coke, and some form of fast food almost daily with no excercise). I'm pretty much back to where I used to be pre-online which is healthy as nails. |

Eventually though if you stick to it every day for months on end, you seem to be able to train your mind into thinking it wants to workout. What seemed like self inflicted physical punishment before actually becomes enjoyable because you do feel better. You breathe better, you set new goals - like you could only run for 1 minute last month, this month you can run up to 4 minutes, and you're less tired, and you feel like you look better and people take notice (whether you actually really look better or not, LOL). |
I've cut way down on coke intake and have been doing what I can to stick to skim milk and water.
Diet cokes don't do it for me because few have Spenda and Nutri-sweet plays havoc with my migraines. But Sly, if you have some sort of weight problem, you're hiding it VERY well!!! |
The worst part is the headaches that you some times get as a withdrawl.
But once you get over that, it is a lot easier. I am down to one soda a day, and if I drink coffee, it is decaf. |

One of my friends decided to give up soda about the same time I did. He's doing good about staying away from it, but his body isn't too happy. He's going through caffeine withdrawal. |
