Ikea...

What's the big deal with Ikea?

I just got back from there, and aside from the decent amounts of tail running around the place, I found it pretty unimpressive.

Manowar 10-09-2004 12:59 PM

i like going there to laugh at the names of the items :glugglug

Arousal Design 10-09-2004 01:08 PM

the deal is that it's cheap, and every so often shitty quality.

the prisoners at some fascilities in Sweden actually produce shit for IKEA lol

strobi 10-09-2004 01:16 PM

deal = price

If you want a quick solution, just drive to ikea and you'l find something.

SGS 10-09-2004 01:22 PM

We use Ikea for studio props. Crap quality but they deliver same day so long as you order before 5pm and when you have used the stuff a couple of times just throw it out.

We must spend a couple of thousand pounds a month at Ikea and the stuff pays for itself many times over. :2 cents:

I would like to have a studio set up exactly like IKEA's upstairs area. Every few feet = new complete scene. Imagine the number of sets you could do of a model in a short amount of time....

zazzouche 10-09-2004 03:21 PM

Usually Ikea has cheap stuff but i wonder why is it that every time i go there i end up paying more for stuff i don't need.
As soon as you enter you are forced to go through the entire store before leaving, now that's smart!!!

It's a brilliant concept, and it works so well.

I can't leave that store without spending a small fortune. I love it there.

I bought my current bed from ikea, the only thing I've ever bought there.
I used to have a fancy $1000+ bed, it was total crap. Fell to pieces and, well.. it just was shit.

Now I bought a few hundred euro bed that's basically 4 blocks of wood + support shit underneath and it's good enough for me. :)

psyko514 10-09-2004 04:27 PM

TGF, this bed?

Never been there. I have heard good and bad things about them

Are they in SoCal?

Tuga 10-09-2004 04:35 PM

I am buying a house next week, and I'm going to Ikea right after I get the keys.

Why not take your cash to some antique shops and pick up some tasteful furniture that has a life expectency of more than three years or so? Saves you the aggro of assembling it too.

Because my mother and girlfriend are very excited about Ikea since the day it got to Portugal, and because it's my first house and I wont have a lot of cash left :(

3 years from now I'll be able to buy some new stuff. And my first Porsche :Graucho

Gynecologist 10-09-2004 05:24 PM

Ikea is overpriced junk for single working chicks. I lost a hot girl one time because I told her that Ikea sold junk and then she told me she buys all of her furniture there.

I never saw her again. LOL!
