GFY's search feature was really an excellent tool. There have been some really hot topics on this thread where really valuable information has been discussed and shared. It also saved on redundant posts and kept the board fresh and interesting. I know Lens and Wizzo that you guys said that it slowed down the board, but there has to be some way to work around this - some sort of compromise.

I'm sure I'm not alone here on this... I would say a majority of webmasters benefit more from HAVING the search than from NOT HAVING the search.

So respond here to show Lensman and Wizzo how great this SEARCH feature really was, and maybe - just maybe- we can bring it back!

It also was causing strain on the hardware that they are trying to work around too...

Having a forum with sub forums to move the informative thread once every few weeks... LOCKED threads would offer the info area and deletion of the extreme past of say 30+ days back would lighten some load on the hardware as well. http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/biggrin.gif

please get the search back..

Bring it back to prevent the same questions being asked again and again....

Yep, bring it back. There is a lot of info on this board and without search is a lot harder to find something! Google is really slow in indexing, so we need Search back!

there are plenty of other boards MUCH bigger,with tons of more posts and they don't face problems with the search as far as I know. Porncity has an excellent search and you can reach messages 2 or more years old in few seconds.

Yes, please bring back the search. I use it when I need some info that I know had been posted before. I do the same at PornCity and other bbs.

I've tried stuff like "bbs.gofuckyourself.com MYSEARCHTOPIC"
or
"gofuckyourself.com MYSEARCHTOPIC"
but to little avail.

How are you successful GFY searchers doing this???

We are bring it back, the problem is that the old search slowed the board down too much.

Have to go to advanced search at google, enter http://bbs.gof*ckyourself,com and enter a list of terms in the any words box too.

Oh and don't censor the url of course. http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/biggrin.gif

Maybe you'd delete some posts (let's say older than a year) and maybe delete those useless, it would speed up the process quite a bit (but it would take some work, so...)
Anyway, please bring it back!

Searching on UBB is very slow compared to other boards, even free ones like PHPBB - http://www.phpbb.com/ ... I suggest you to try their forums and compare the speed!
