Point of No Return
 

Well, I've spent alot of time reading and learning, keeping my big mouth shut and creating my site, and as of today I have made a grand total of $8.13 for the month of August. (before the bill for paid hosting of course) Essentially, a negative return on investment so far. So I'd like to ask if some of you porn veterans would please take a look at it and give me some input as to what I change or do to help make this site generate some cash.
I'm not going to cry or get pissed off so if you have suggestions or think something sucks, just say so, as long as it's useful and constructive and will help me make it a better $$$-making site. www.porn-matrix.com

You might want to get rid of those exit consoles, I don't think any surfer would come back for more after those.

What are your objectives with this site and where are you getting your traffic from?

Traffic is coming mainly from my own gallery submissions to the other tgps, and an extremely small amount from SE, not enough to even count.
Objective is a more difficult question. To be honest, I hadn't really nailed it down yet. I initially thought if I could build its traffic up that I could eventually start funneling some of it over to help sell my paysite that is now sitting in limbo. I started off promoting the paysite, but soon realized that being my own sole sponsor doesn't pay much. Hench, the birth of this new site. So, I guess it began out of traffic and sales issues. Beyond that, I'm beginning to have doubts about the paysite venture altogether now. I had a grand total of 3 signups on it over a 3 month span and every one of them cancelled after the 3 day trial period. Discouraging to say the least!

Hmmm, without an objective -- ie, feed my paysite, use for trades, be a hub for my free/tgp pages, make into an avs site, etc -- you're kind of floundering out there in space on the site itself.

While it is possible to have a site serve many purposes you can't orgranize it to maximize things until you figure out what you want from it.

Maybe it's a build it forget it deal, maybe you look for bookmarkers, maybe you use it to filter traffic...

No site can be anything until you decide what you want from it though, I think that's the problem you have right now --

Now that I am properly and sufficiently lubricated with adequate, yet still delightful, levels of booze... my vision and speach may have become somewhat obscured, however my objective becomes clear!
I want this site to reign supreme, become the number 1 resource for all Internet porn, have all porn surfers kneel before me, and generate cash from the mere whispering of its name!

Seriously... (kinda), my girlfriend stands strong behind my efforts... she's always telling me this will all eventually pay off. All the while I am ready to shut it all down and go back to driving a fucking truck.

IMO

Too many ads for right now. Lose the ads and make them links to other trade sites. Start a traffic circle going.

The cheapest, easiest way is to submit some galleries to as many TGP's as you can find. Instead of placing links to sponsors on your submitted galleries...place a link back to your main site. A couple of good listings can bring in 2k a day to your main site. The traffic will only last a couple of days...so dont sit on it and let die. Start sending it back out.

This will get your traffic circulating. Soon you will be starting to pick up bookmarkers too. (Dont assume that if you get an influx of 1 or 2k that they are going to bookmark your site.) Bookmarkers take a while.

Once you have your traffic base, you can start sending traffic to your sponsors. Focus on the traffic before worring about your sponsors. No traffic...no money.

Once you get that initial influx of traffic, you can ask people for link exchanges and trades...but that's a pain in the ass..an established site will not link to a site that sends no traffic.

Try out some script sites. No I dont mean CJ..that a totally different story.

There are clean sites out there giving you good QUALITY returns for you traffic. Send a little, get a little send a lot, get a lot. Much easier than asking everybody for a link.

A few clean sites off the top of my head that I have found to send back equal quality traffic and are really nice for smaller trades (more than 50 but less than 1k a day) are...

Well, I checked out the site. Clicked on the link to TEEN GALLERY under MATRIX DAILY GALLERIES. I got to a page of fairly standard unexciting pics, and when I clicked on the linke to "10 More Pics" was blind-linked to one of your sponsors. Blind links piss me off. I think I'd be very unlikely to join your sponsor having been blind linked into landing there. Maybe that's just me.

I agree, they piss me off too, but I didnt make that page.... sponsors page. Not my doin's. They provide those daily pics on their server so it keeps it fresh for me plus brings some cash... (in theory)

Would you go so far as to suggest putting in some totally clean and fresh content? No blinds, no popups, no bullshit? And if so, where then DO I put the sponsors?

A minor point but here it is:

The pattern I see with webmasters with design backgrounds [and judging from your superb graphics -- you fall under this category] is that they spend a lot of time and effort designing their pages for artistic aesthetics. However, in order to accommodate your audience you don't need high design quality--"utilitarian" is the word that comes to mind in meeting the needs of the thousands of surfers that come to look at free pages.

This critique does not apply to pay sites.

Maybe a good evolutionary process in designing your page is to start simple then change the page as your user bases grows.

Just my two cents.

I have to admit pimp, I agree with you 100%. But I just can't help myself. I'm a fuckin' design junkie. I get off on makin' shit look better than all the other shit. I see all the crap out there and can't help but think that if I can somehow show the surfers something better, they will come enmasse. (although I realize now that in reality this is not the case.) There is no question, I've had fuckloads of comments and praise on my designs. I used to design corporate IT websites ranging between $5k and $12k a pop for a weeks work, all under ridiculous deadlines. But dealing with pressure from corporate CEO fucknuts that can't decide if they like blue or green forced me to hang it up.
I don't know... maybe I'm just making this more complicated than it needs to be. I am certainly a newbie when it comes down to marketing and generating traffic for this stuff.

The last time I looked, there were sponsors you could promote without blinds, popups, and other bullshit. For example, if you promote my http://www.girlsdotcom.com you could be booted for using that kind of stuff. And my site converts pretty well.

xanobyte -- if you want to make something that's pretty, I'm going to suggest you switch to avs sites -- that will give you the freedom to be creative but not cut out your moneymaking opportunities http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/smile.gif

If you want to develop the site into a traffic hub type of situation, I would spend as much time as I could getting a layout designed that will be your best mousetrap.

Then I'd build tons of free sites and pages that I would submit and I'd put up a link, just like any other sponsor, to this site you've built -- this hub site -- make the galleries and free sites clean so they'll get listed and then get as much of your own traffic into your system as you can - a web within a web so to speak --

I'd also build a really mean, really nasty site from a surfers standpoint to exit the traffic to -- instead of trading it all away or sending it to places that don't earn you maximum revenue for the traffic --

Use the hub to qualify the surfers and get your targetting down -- build some avs sites and link them from the hub, just like a sponsor --

This is a numbers game -- if you've got traffic you're halfway there, figuring out how to route the traffic is where the profit is http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/smile.gif
