Well I was the unfortunate soul that lost a domain entirely due to trying to transfer it. We had to sign papers, have them notorized, fax them here and there and everywhere and 6 months later, the domain was STILL not transferred, it came up as open and someone was able to buy it from under me ..... and it was registered at Network Solutions.... I say best of luck to you, if you wanna pay the $200 they want to expedite it, that I hear will get it done for you, otherwise you may be screwed. I know TONS of folks lost domains trying to do it as per THEIR directions and every single one of them except the ones that paid the $200 lost them.

Not trying to bring you down, just trying to tell you what has happened to a bunch of us dealing with NS.... http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/frown.gif

Transfer it to a nice registrar like registerfly.com first have the person who is buying it get an account at registerfly.com then its easy to transfer it between the 2 people on the same registrar.

Did you try transfering to a different registrar?

If it is not within 30 days of expiring and you are listed as the contact info - open an account with directnic or another SRS registrar.

Then they will send you an email and you have to click on a link. It is easy when it goes smoothly. If it doesn't NSI can be a big pain. They should be arrested under RICO for some of the stuff they pull.

Thanks yes i will try to transfer to a different registrar.

Hope atleast that is easy http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/smile.gif

will that usually be done instantly ?
(how long does it take ?)

We tried that too..... and they gave us the run around on that one too......

Hunter just keep all this in mind when dealing with them..... if you go in better prepaired than we were, it may not happen to you too.... just go in fully prepaired. This bitch I dealt with said they didn't even have my site listed with them, and I had to make her do a fucking whois to prove it to her.

NS sucks The Big Hairy Pickle as far as I'm concerned. I will never ever buy a domain through them again. I have a domain I've tried to make an ownership change on at least three times without success. Ever seen that old ad where the telephone is ringing in the computer room? No people, just a telephone on a table and all these tape drives whirling away? That was filmed at Network Solutions.

Honest! It was...really! ;-)

It isn't instant, but about a week or so. I would try directnic as they have been known to be helpful if you run into problems.

They have a great user interface as well.

Don't worry too much until you try it. It may go smoothly. I have had them go both ways, but once you are away from NSI everything should be fine. How old is the domain and how soon 'til it expires?
