But was just wondering
it promises "Erases Browser Cache Files"
and
"Erases Browser History Logs", but as far as I am concerned no software can really do this.Anything short of physical destruction
of your HD,doesnt really work.

I'm not a programmer, but I know part of the program will replace data strings, rename them, then wipe them. And they're gone for good. It's known as bleaching.

Yes Lens they are gone for average wife or boss. But not for Data Recovery Centres.

Of course it's possible to erase everything. Remember, when something is deleted, it's not "gone" until it's replaced..

It should be possible if you deleted all cache + history, and then replaced the blocks on the HD which contained this information.. Maybe add some other sites to the history log, or something like that.. I'm not totally sure how, but of course it's possible to remove it totally, so _no_ "recovery" app will be able to locate it again..

Just my thought ..

Again, a government grade encryption / data wipe program set on level 7 blowfish wipe will forever eliminate your tracks. It will wipe and overwrite the sectors with random 1s and 0s (basically garbage data) 7 times over. It will be clean. But if you need that level of security, you're either paranoid beyond the ability to function properly as a human being, or you are into some really heavy illegal shit.
Probably be better to just encrypt yer stuff with seriously heavy encryption. Make sure it's uncrackable. That way you get to keep your stuff, and keep it inaccessable to everyone else. Do a data wipe only if the Feds are beating down the door.
I personally preferred to keep the entire harddrive encrypted. It wouldn't even boot without the right key, which of course, is kept on a floppy that can be destroyed in an instant. http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/wink.gif

well i know its still not gone, but its harder to recover when something that has been deleted, then the hard drive is defraged.

This made me laugh.I brought it up cause my friend works in Data recovery center.And we were talking about these softwares.All he said no software can do it.They can recover data even from HD's damaged by fire.

I use Ontrack Internet Clean up,I got it
in Future Shop for $19 canadian.It cleans
cache and cookies,free disk space and gets rid of lots of shit.

That's what Internet Eraser does when it bleaches a directory. It overwrites the data with random 0s and 1s, renames the files, then erases them.

That data is gone.

And we're adding new features all the time.

I don't understand. A data location on a hard drive can hold only a 1 or a 0. How can data "still be there" once random 1's and 0's have been substituted? Yes, I'm stupid about these things, but I want to learn.
