How many years before Fax machines are finally gone

I guess some people will always have em just like some people still have rotary phones (remember when you use to call a company and they said if you have a rotary phone stay on the line lol that message is gone)

Rob 10-07-2004 11:03 PM

Next year.

pornguy 10-07-2004 11:13 PM

I think that fax machines will last about another 3 years.

The more companies go paperless the sooner it will happen, but have you ever seen how much paper a Pharmaceutical company uses???

DX 10-07-2004 11:14 PM

I've used a fax machine a total of ONE time in my life...

lol what was that one time?

baddog 10-07-2004 11:16 PM

as long as people are going to want to be able to send their signature right away, fax machines will be here

EscortBiz 10-07-2004 11:17 PM

I remember in 98 I called staples to order a Brother fax machine, somehow they wanted to get a copy of my credit card front and back and the lady asked me to fax it, I told her send me the fax machine so I can fax it

slapass 10-07-2004 11:19 PM

I have used it several times this year for this business and I use it every few days for real estate. I think they have a while left.

Magg 10-07-2004 11:19 PM

how can you fax a cc unless you scan or copy it first

I install phone systems for businesses big and small, and no matter what kind of system they get, they all get a dedicated line for a fax machine

detoxed 10-07-2004 11:21 PM

too many people use them... lawyers... real estate... most of these places dont have the technical know how to do anything online, and if they do, the person they are sending to doesnt.

hydro 10-07-2004 11:24 PM

we use them all the time in the real estate and insurance biz

I still use my fax machine quite a bit.

EscortBiz 10-07-2004 11:27 PM

lol remember people making a copy before sending the fax so they dont lose it

titmowse 10-07-2004 11:29 PM

do you mean the end of fax machines themselves or do you mean the end of faxing altogether?

you don't have to own a fax machine to send/receive faxes. you just need a scanner/printer/modem/software setup. so maybe the fax machine could become obsolete.

as for faxing, too many folks want hard copies of the stuff mentioned above like signatures and IDs. i doubt faxing will go way any time soon.

to be honest, unless you need an add-on voice mail system or have more than 4 telephone numbers, these days you can pretty much get everything you need built into individual instruments these days

The Bootyologist 10-07-2004 11:44 PM

good question, i dunno. it beats paying a charge online:thumbsup

quiet 10-07-2004 11:47 PM

unfortunately i still need to us a fax machine fairly regularly. only because some of the people i'm dealing with require it.

Drake 10-07-2004 11:51 PM

I use a fax very often. I don't see it going anywhere anytime soon. People like hardcopies of signatures instantly and fax is the best way to do it.

beemk 10-08-2004 12:20 AM

i still use a fax machine

Bigjohn 10-08-2004 01:04 AM

About once a year I get a mainstream client who wants to fax me something. I have to dig out the fax machine, hook it up, fill it with paper, run a test to make sure the toner's still good.... What a pain :ak47:

JOP 10-08-2004 01:18 AM

Itīll take forever. The way we do business is not the way

offline people do business.

strobi 10-08-2004 01:24 AM

never!! At least 10 years...

BRISK 10-08-2004 01:59 AM

Forget Fax machines, what about VHS?

You can still buy new VHS machines in electronics stores today. As technologically advanced as I like to think we are, there are still people running out and buying VHS machines.

Paparazzi 10-08-2004 02:12 AM

Only time I've used a fax was to send my wire transfer details to ccbill :)

reynold 10-08-2004 02:29 AM

as long as some company still need fax machine....it will never be out...

I think people will keep on using them for a very long time. I use it every day for my offline business.

Btw, In Canada, we still hear the message of "stay online if you don't have a touch-tone phone";)

Soon I hope, I can't stand it when people require faxes...

I haven't owned a printer in 4 years either, this whole hardcopy thing is so passe.

kacy 10-08-2004 10:01 AM

I hope soon because I am sick of these fax spams!

JakeR 10-08-2004 10:23 AM

it will be another 10 years atleast before fax machines are phased out. We are paperless at the office, but on average we receive 400 faxes a day, i would guess that majority of them are from actual fax machines.

axelcat 10-08-2004 10:29 AM

this year

ztik 10-08-2004 10:34 AM

Hmm I send fax's on a weekly basis. I don't see them going anywhere soon.
