DNS Propagation......
How long before DNS flops over when you point a domain at a new server?
I changed a domain and within ten mintues some people were seeing it on a new sever??? Does that sound right? |
.com and .net gTLD's should take 5-10 minutes now, no longer any of this 2-3 day propagation.

I have heard that the longest that it is supposed to be now if 4 hours.
But that is the fastest that I have heard of. |
Yup, my last group of domains switched over completely in less than an hour. Awesome shit :thumbsup
|
Last time I did it, it was the same day

It depends on several things. It used to take a week. Then two or three days. Now its almost instant. What it depends on is the name-server's TTL (Time to Live) before others are supposed to check it for updates. Most have gone to 900 seconds (15 minutes). So, with in an hour, most of the DNS Servers around the world pick up the change. |
