Nikon or Canon DSLR ?
I have a Nikon D70 with a not so great lens. I have been using my friend's lenses for shooting most everything.
I have the opportunity to sell my D70 for not much of a loss. The reason I am asking is because I plan to invest well over $2k lenses so obviously I want to make the right choice between Nikon or Canon. I shot with a Canon D20 today and like it. But of course it is quite a bit more expensive than a D70. Opinions? |

Like us....we made the switch from Nikon to Canon...we are using the new Mark IIs...the new cameras along with Canon's new image stabilization lenses are awesome.....

Used to be a Nikon boy... now Canon (10d)
Really though, if you are starting off from scratch, either system is good... Nikon was a little more $$$ for the system I was looking at a year ago, so I went Canon. Really, it's who's behind the camera that counts. Make that "in front of the camera." OK, both in front of, and behind the, camera. It comes down to personal preference. Try them both. See how they feel in your hand. |
I wouldn't trade my Nikon D1X or D70 for anything, but I know plenty of people who swear by Canon products.

i know a lot of people that have switched from one to the other and visa versa - personally i own canon systems (eos 10d and eos a2) - and personally think their line of L series glass is more diverse and overall broader then that of nikon
that said, nikon makes some kick ass glass my advice - if your comfy shooting your d70, dont switch... just invest in better glass if however, you are already planning on switching, keep in mind that canon rolls out more dslr's per year then nikon does, often w/ more features... honestly, its a coin toss if you still have trouble choosing, check iPhotoForum.com |
go for Nikon dude

I have used Nikon for 20 + years and the glass they sell is by far the best. But Canon have far better customer service. The CS at Nikon sucks the big one.

Canon has a superior focusing system and a better price point. Even the best trained eye can not tell you the difference between high end Canon and the same quality of Nikon glass from a print.
The Nikon camera frames are built more rugged but the Canon is built very well and I am not about to start droping cameras now. Take a look at the major sporting events and you will see more Canon products than Nikon. There's a reason for that. The 20D kicks ass. :2 cents: http://ampcontent.com/Picx/NewToys.jpg |

I gotta admit the 20D I tested out today felt better than sex. I think my nipples got hard. |
