The Gay Face Of God

Archbishop Simpson is an openly gay Catholic Priest who rejects fundamentalist Christian arguments that homosexuality is inherently sinful. His life story, which can be read in his new book The Gay Face of God, is truly fascinating; his career path has lead him from the United States military to the police force, then to time as a federal agent.

After being rejected by the Roman Catholic Church on account of his sexual orientation, Archbishop Simpson found his final calling with the Old Catholic Church, where his primary ministry is Social Justice; Archbishop Simpson?s teachings denounce the use of God as ?a political weapon,? and instead promote ?the simple truth of love and inclusion.?

hmmm, well ... how gay...

addrian 10-07-2004 04:28 PM

I don't think is normal to have "gay" and "God" in the same sentence. This is total bullshit

I agree Robert, it's a good read. I listened in one of the interviews he did on YNOTradio awhile back - he's most definitely interesting.

actually I was honored to be the person asked by the YNOT group to assist YNOTBob in interviewing the Archbishop because of my background being a pastor and in seminary for 7 years when I was in my twenties.

was very humbled to speak with a couragous and clear thinking man

I'm glad you remember that interview on our radio show! YNOT Bob and I let Robert take over with the live interview and it was PHENOMENAL...

That was definitely an interesting read - the mans convictions are very admorable - and I can concur with his political and religious views. The Roman Catholic Church as it stands to day is a tremendously hypocratical organization and needs to be completely re-evaluated. The point remains his message goes far beyond the point that the man is gay. He is trying to dispell the hypocracy of the Christian faith as it stands now -

great observation - if anyone is going to preach at me, this guy seems to be the only one I could trust after seeing what he went through that his comments wouldnt be judgement, but as a caring father giving advice.

Of course gay sex is against god, but so is ANY sex between two( or more ) people that are not married. Even married couples that have oral and anal sex are going against god. In fact couples that use birth control and have sex are going against god. Sex is for making babies in God's eyes and therefore having sex for any other purpose is immoral even within a marriage. God still loves you though.

I think if sex wasn't meant to be, then God would not have made it so..

He made so we would make babies. It made it feel good otherwise we wouldn't do it.

Connor 10-09-2004 11:44 AM

"He made so we would make babies. It made it feel good otherwise we wouldn't do it."

So you know that A) there is a God, and B) God is a "he", and C) God doesn't want people to have sex unless they want to reproduce.

Wow... must be nice to have all the answers. I guess that's why religion appeals to so many people.
