I'm looking for a humb TGP script for hosted galleries

I'm looking at different scripts for a TGP Fletch did for me and I want to hear what you have to say. I don't mind paying for one and I've searched the other boards and have narrowed it down to a couple:

Nibbi Scripts GhostDriver
JMB Auto Gallery Pro
JMB Soft TGP rotator

has anyone used either of these scripts or any other ones?

I'm not interested in having webmaster submissions OR giving x% of my traffic away. I have a trial for Comus Thumbs but haven't fully installed it yet and I'm not sure I will until I'm ready to pay because I hear it's the bomb :)

Talk to me - the good, bad, ugly

wdsguy 10-07-2004 01:19 PM

I've used the JMB scripts, they work pretty well

I really like poking around in their demos, give me a great idea of what it does.

I'm leaning towards AGP right now.

marzzo 10-07-2004 03:25 PM

anybody else?

primazo 10-07-2004 04:26 PM

I use apTGP, it can handle submits and hosted galleries but in fact this means it does not work that well with hosted galleries only (as fake TGP). This mostly concerns the rotation of the galleries.
I am switching to JMB TGP rotator which has better features for this.

Nubianprince 10-07-2004 05:29 PM

build your own script like i did.. i had to build my own thumb gallery rotating script for my booty site http://www.ratedbooty.com

The site looks great, what are some of the features of the script?

Does it do thumb cropping automatically or manually?
Does it use mySQL?
Can you import a text file list of galleries?
Can I have a copy of it for free?
:winkwink:

I'm not fluent with PHP otherwise I would but I'm looking for something I can just plug in and go.

Is that what you're usin' MrIzzz? do you use the free version or the pay?

rambler 10-07-2004 08:34 PM

I use Nibbi Scripts GhostDriver , and it works perfect for me. All I do is have freehosted galleries rotating on my TGP. When I purchased it ; the support was excellent, as Nibbi installed it for me on my server . For the price you can't go wrong.

right now the thumbs are done manually.. working on changing that this month..

it works on mysql ..

it can import text files ..

and its not for sale .. :)

just added a ban and unban feature to it.. and have som emore cool features to add to it as well ..

did i mention that it has a click tracking system to track hits each gallery gets ? :D

pornguy 10-07-2004 09:08 PM

Comus is the best.

And one reason that you may want to stick with the free one, is that you are linked to their tgp. Take a look at its PR.

each thumb on that site gets at least 200+ clicks a day with a productivity of at least 160% .. so the thumb size does really have no negative effect .. probably because most of the traffic that goes to the site comes from search engines..

the_wizz 10-07-2004 09:11 PM

Comus is good.

I'm running the trial on three sites.

Saving to purchase three licenses of that and three licenses of TM3....

I'll have the comus licenses wayyyyy before I have the tm3. :(

I don't know anything about Comus thumb driver, I use Comus thumbs and I don't think there's anything you could think of that it doesn't do. And the support is awesome!

FlyingIguana 10-07-2004 09:40 PM

i have a tgp with no traffic, but it sure can humb

rowan 10-07-2004 09:49 PM

I made most of my 90x120 thumbs with a simple javascript+php app that lets me drag a box around and resize it... all browser based. Submit the crop, enter the gallery URL and then it's added to the pool.

Lately I have been doing thumbs manually with Photoshop. There's a lot more control over brightness, contrast, colour-cast correction, sharpness, quality of save, etc. I've found that most images need a brightness push at the very minimum (many single girl sponsors put out dark images). I've set up a Photoshop action so the process from loading a full sized image to saving a finished thumb doesn't really take much longer than the basic crop via the web interface. Probably 10-20 seconds for most, a little longer for images that need more correction.

Here's an example of before and after correction:

If you don't feel like doing the thumbs yourself then there are companies you can outsource this to.

Argoz 10-07-2004 10:11 PM

Comus Thumbs :thumbsup

Kain 10-07-2004 11:40 PM

Just my $.02 , Comus Thumbs is the way to go. Start doing simple stuff with it and it can grow you into a VERy complex site, if you ever want/need it.

perfectodollars-gabrio 10-08-2004 12:24 AM

JMB soft products are all very good, you won't get disappointed, go for it :thumbsup

More Booze 10-08-2004 03:01 AM

I use Comus Thumbs on my TGPs, just disable submissions. :)

Vendzilla 10-08-2004 08:45 AM

Comus can do all that, it can adjust the brightness, sharpness, contrast, all that! The submitters can create their own thumbnails on the submit page to what ever size you set it to!

True that Comus can do that, but Photoshop does a MUCH better job, plus the compression engine is much better (for obvious reasons).

Comus is a good choice, but the learning curve is VERY steep. It takes days to learn it if you haven't used a TGP script before.

Ajax2000 10-08-2004 01:51 PM

Take a look at this script
AdultDevil BS-TGP
Version: 2.0b More Informaion $59
BS-TGP is a TGP script for creating your own TGP using only your own or hosted galleries. This script does not accept submissions. BS-TGP can handle an unlimited number of domains (on the same server). Galleries added to the database will never be automatically removed, but will be rotated as often as you'd like. This is the perfect script for those who have no desire to accept submissions and/or do not have time to devote to updating a conventional TGP. BS-TGP is capable of choosing thumbs randomly and ordering by clicks.

Stopped selling that script quite some time ago. Just too lazy to edit the site.

WickedVenus 10-08-2004 02:58 PM

Whatever you do dont choose perfect tgp pro I know its not on your list, but please dont use them, they screwed me out of 59.95. I purchased the script then they wouldnt give me tech support. I am now filing a claim against them.

It's still browser based though. You can't see the effects of changes as you make them. The main adjustment tool I use with PS thumbs is curves - I can do brightness, contrast, level clipping and colour correction with that single dialog. Curves would be impossible to do with a browser. :winkwink:

dude you have a great script, i've had amazing results ever since i started using it. i took one TGP without redesigning it or anything, i put comus on it, and the prod went from a crappy 50% to 95% in about 3 weeks time just using the prod booster template

and as for the gay pansy stuff marzzo, lololololololololol homoooooooo

nekrom 10-08-2004 11:06 PM

Im planning to run AGP SQL, running cron on both updates and random cropping, updating to main page periodacly.

Comus looks like a better script though, hard to decide.
