I think what they're trying to say is that it's OK to get turned on by your 11 year Daughter. Go ABC.

bringer 10-07-2004 08:29 AM

"Fathers are probably not aware that they are struggling not to feel aroused or attracted," he said.

that's HOT

Nightraven 10-07-2004 08:30 AM

WTF??? Good thing I'm not a father.
Guess that's why they act the way they do in China :1orglaugh

Wiggles 10-07-2004 08:30 AM

Christ, more psycho-babble proving further that psychologists are barely a whisker above lawyers in the food chain.

Shaddam IV 10-07-2004 08:31 AM

That article is stupid. Yeah, it advocates being open and telling your daughter why you can't be affectionate anymore.

"Sorry, sweetie, but daddy gets a woody if you sit on my lap"

C_U_Next_Tuesday 10-07-2004 08:33 AM

I remember when I was not allowed to give my dad a kiss goodnight anymore.. was very weird. We had a long time family friend that lived with us on and off for many years.. I always gave him a hug and kiss good night too... it all stopped when I turned 11 and started going through puberty.

Evil Jawa 10-07-2004 08:35 AM

Any awkwardness most fathers feel is because feminism has been portraying men as molesters and rapists for decades, so they have gotten paranoid about anything, even natural, innocent affection being misinterpreted.

what kind of dumb fuck for a father do you have ? ? he seriously didn't allow you to kiss him goodnight when you turned 11 ? :eek2

I still kiss my mom and dad when I see them and I'm 23... fuck that... In Reno they don't allow any touching other than handshakes. I got arrested for sexual harrassment because being Cuban I am accustomed to kissing women on the cheek when I'm introduced to them... I did so and was fucking arrested... this countrie's gone to shit.

Magg 10-07-2004 08:41 AM

i think i'd feel the same way actually.. might not disallow it, but i sure would be awkward.

A buddy of mine refused to put lotion or baby powder on his daughter. That's fucked up.

When my daughter had an infection, there wasn't ANYONE gonna tell me it wasn't appropriate to put lotion on my two year old daughter's vagina. I'm gonna let it get worse, out of fear of what the public perception might be?? Fuck that.

That's what our mainstream media does today, instills fear. Christ, I can't believe I just said that. I actually agree with Michael Moore on something.

Because when you start kissing random strangers on the street, they generally don't see it as a simple greeting.

I don't care how old the daughteris, if you are a dad and you have a problem hugging and kissing your daughter you need help quickly.

My little sister is 30 somethingish <cough> and she still hugs and kisses her dad, makes him dinner, and snuggles against him on the couch when they watch bad horror movies. Its perfectly normal and should never be viewed as wrong.

Articles like these are going to have every jane doe activist on her cell phone because some dad gave his little girl a kiss when he dropped her off at school.

I was actually just making a joke.

Seriously, though, how does something like that happen? When you kiss someone on the cheek as a greeting, don't you watch the other person's body language?

Over here, about two thirds of all people do it, but it's really easy to know who do it and who don't.

What's wrong with talking about a subject? It's obviously an issue with a certain percentage of dads out there, probably has been for centuries. Don't articles like this also serve to get people talking? Last time I checked, opening up a dialogue on a problem issue like this was a good thing.

What, there should be no articles like this allowed now? I read it too, and to me it comes off as a piece where adults are talking about a social issue that is cause for concern with some people. Should we ignore it instead of talking openly about it? I thought this was the age of enlightenment?

He wasnt a dumb fuck of a father..it was just inappropriate to give him a big ol smack on the lips anymore..I still kiss my dad to this day.. I just remember that very moment I got chastised.. it was awkward to say the least.

I didn't say ignore anything. I read the article as well and voiced my opinion.

Its not what the article was about that concerned me. It was the way they portrayed the father. Just because he got a woody when his daughter kissed doesn't make all fathers bad. It does make him a sick bastard for feeling uncomfortable with his child.

A certain percentage of fathers might get all fucked up if their daughters hug them. I wonder if this percentage is close to the average number of pedophiles.

Its normal for daughters to love their fathers and to express that love with affection. Its also normal for a father to return that love with all the hugs and kisses she wants.

Soon enough her father will be gone and she'll wish he had held her hand one more time.

What kind of fucked up analogy is this?? Relating the types of fathers talked about in the article with pedophiles??

You people are fucking unbelievable.

The age of enlightenment ended with the birth of postmodernism.

If I had a daughter it would be her choice if she wanted affection, I don't think i would draw a line at a certain age.
