-----------------------
95th Percentile Bandwidth Usage The 95th percentile formula is an industry-standard method of calculating the sustained bandwidth usage level on high-speed Internet links. The formula allows a customer to have temporary spikes in their traffic up to the full capacity of the link, while only being billed for the bandwidth used most of the time. Every five minutes, a sample of both inbound and outbound bandwidth usage is taken. The higher of the two numbers is recorded. Over the course of thirty days, 8,640 samples are recorded, then sorted in order from highest to lowest. The highest five percent, or the top 432 samples, are removed. The next highest sample is the 95th percentile sustained usage level for the previous thirty days. This number is then multiplied by the appropriate per Mb/s rate to obtain the billable amount. This essentially means that the customer is not billed for 36 hours, or five percent of one month, of peak bandwidth usage. -------------------------------- I don't like it personally. |
Thanks man
I was looking for another server and they stated that they did not have a 95th percentile rule. |
