Whats up with all server prices...?

It was not long ago I saw alot of deals from different hosts where I could get a unmanaged server with ~1000gb bandwidth with Cpanel for under 100$.

What has happend?

Is managed.com the only one left?
Server matrix use to have good cheap deals... :(

This sucks.

http://www.theplanet.com/ apparently still has cheap prices. I have no real experience with 'em though

Have you talked to webair??

Though I doubt you could actually get a "good" server for $100 /month with what you're asking.....

*bUmP* for my sexy and interesting thread..

Spam me with cheap dedicated servers. And no managed.com network shit..

If it looks to good to be true it most likely is...you can offer a loss leader, but if your offering services to cheap eventually it will catch up with you. I think your seeing that now reflected in prices going back up by companies that jumped in offering services way to cheap. That will eventually show in the quality of their support as well. You can't pay employees if your not covering your bottom line...

in my opinion anyway =)

Nicely said. Basically it's the "Like Whoa" theory. Give it all away for free or at a loss to brand yourself...But in the end you are bankrupt. It's not a good business model at all and has proven to not work at all in the end.:2 cents:

There are LOTS of servers that are under $100 that contain at least 1000GB (some even have 4000GB-- 2000GB in and 2000GB out).

I'll give you a hint on where to find it, it's a popular web hosting forum.

DavidVH 10-07-2004 01:04 PM

it's called paying bills. companies realized they were losing money on the whole oversubscribe bandwidth idea.

And most of those people will be out of business once people start chewing up the resources - or support will be lacking shortly.

I refuse to touch people that are looking for 1TB on a 50$/month plan.

Talk to Corey or Brad over at:

Mojohost

I'm sure they can help you out......

True, you just have to know how to do your research. Most of the time, I just put non-crucial sites onto those servers.

chaze 10-07-2004 01:42 PM

True there is nothing wring with bottem feeders they have their place.

But don't sacrifise your roi by trying to save a couple bucks on your server :winkwink:
