Google to begin indexing books

If you want to hit the books online - you can point your Internet browser to hit the online search engine Google.

The site is inviting publishers to include entire books in its index.

That will let people take a peek at the contents of a book before deciding whether to buy it.

While the entire text of the books will be scanned into the Google system, the new feature won't let people read the entire work online.

So far, more than a dozen publishers have signed up for the new feature -- and Google says it hopes to eventually have billions of books scanned into the search engine.
